After a grueling session at the gym, don’t forget to give your skin some much needed tender loving care with these skincare essentials.

A good workout not only does great things for our bodies and overall well being but it also helps in achieving great skin. Heart pumping and vigorous exercise routines help to promote better blood circulation, which is something our skin really enjoys. However a workout can also lead to skin issues such as breakouts or spots if it’s not well taken care of post-workout.

It is important to have an active skincare routine planned and here is what we recommend:

CLEANSE YOUR SKIN

Post workout, it’s important to cleanse your skin well. Having used many equipment, the chances of bacteria being present on your face is high. Washing your face will help to get rid of all the bacteria and sweat residues built up during the session. This helps to prevent your pores from getting more clogged and reduces the chances of breakouts.

TONE YOUR FACE

Toning your face will help to re-balance the pH level of your skin. It serves as an extra cleanse and gives the appearance of a fresher and smoother canvas.

BRING OUT THE SPF

The next step is to apply sunscreen. A sunscreen is an essential component most women miss out on. Having just gone through a workout be it indoor or outdoors, it is important to use sunscreen to prevent any form of hyper pigmentation.

USE BODY POWDER

Body powder? Yes even better if it is as gentle as the powder used on a baby’s bottom. After every workout session, there might be an excess build up of oils. Even though taking a shower cleanses our skin, there might be some oils still sitting on the surface. Combat that by using powder as it will help to soak up any of that nasty hidden buildup and prevent any post-workout perspiration.

REHYDRATE YOUR SKIN

While your skin is still damp, apply your chosen moisturizer to re hydrate your skin and keep it supple. As mentioned above, a workout promotes blood circulation. Hence do not rub your skin excessively when applying your moisturizer as that might not be beneficial for your skin. Instead use patting motions. Not only will this help the moisturizer to be absorbed better, it also calms yours skin’s redness down.
