Have you never tried a chemical peel before? Well then, there’s always a first for everything.

Being in a country where the sun is perpetually shining overhead – sometimes a little too fiercely – our skin tends to bear the brunt of its effects. That being said, it becomes essential to invest in appropriate skincare as well as specific treatments to keep your skin in its best condition.

Which is why, when the opportunity to try German cult brand Dr.Belter Cosmetic’s latest two-in-one chemical peel, the [Derm-A ReNew] treatment, came about, we jumped at it.

By leveraging on Dr.Belter Cosmetic’s signature GreenTec concept, which combines natural and medicinal plants with high-tech pro-medical active ingredients, this facial treatment is quite unique. Chemical peels tend to only focus on removing the top most layer of skin – usually made up of dead skin cells. However, the new [Derm-A ReNew] treatment is even more precise and targeted as it is developed with two key notion – ‘Skin Renewal’ through the use of Dr.Belter Cosmetic’s newly developed fruit acid concentrates and ‘Skin Nourishment’ through use of the brand’s line of ampoules and facial masks.

Chemical peels with fruit acids are a well-proven, natural and effective method for successfully treating problem and sun-damaged skin

The Experience

Upon entering the salon, I was promptly seated for a skin analysis. Through the scan, I could exactly tell which areas of my skin were dehydrated and which areas were healthy. Essentially, my forehead was dehydrated and my T-Zone area was clogged, while the rest was relatively healthy.

After the analysis, I went into the treatment room and got myself comfortable – it’ll probably be worthy to note that the beds are heated, so no shivering in the cold! Once the therapist came in, it was an hour and half’s worth of pure relaxation, as she consistently ensured I was comfortable and completely at ease.

The process began with the [Derm-A-ReNew] Preparation Cleansing Toner, a refreshing and anti-irritation liquid toner that cools the skin. Following which the [Derm-A ReNew] Skin Renewal Concentrates was applied and left on for about five minutes. It’s essentially a specific complex based on five standardised plant extracts, namely sugar cane (glycolic acid), blueberry (lactic acid), orange and lemon (citric acid) and sugar maple (malic and tartaric acid). The extracts within the concentrates work to breakdown the intracellular substances, and peel off dead cells, stimulating skin regeneration and increasing cell renewal rate for an improved skin structure and complexion.

Though it was available in 10%, 20% and 40% fruit acids, the therapist went with a 10% for me since it was my first time undergoing a chemical peel. With a 10%, I could feel a slight tingling feeling on my face but it was nothing too unbearable.

Following that a [Derm-A-ReNew] Neutralising Gel was applied before the ampoule and mask. In my case, I was treated to Ampoule No. 2 Hy-O-Silk, which reduces water loss from the epidermis and helps to improve radiance, and the refreshing Vitamin C Physio-Marine Mask for an antioxidant and whitening effect.

The Result

By the end of it, I left the salon with a new-found radiance and suppleness that got me really pumped for the work week ahead. Together with Dr Belter Cosmetic’s range of homecare products, I managed to prolong the effects of the treatment. Quite simply, I was very impressed with how immediate and lasting the results were.

As for the process, let’s just say I did not even realise it had already been an hour and a half till the therapist told me, ‘okay we’re done.’ That’s basically how much of a breeze the entire treatment was, and at no point was it unnerving – even though it was my first time getting a chemical peel.

Now to reschedule another appointment with them!

The Dr.Belter [Derm-A ReNew] treatment is available at SGD238 at Annabelle Skin and is suitable for both male and females, as well as different skin conditions including acne, enlarged pores, dull skin complexions, scarring, pigmentation, and mature, wrinkled skin.
