Everyone needs a little inspiration now and then, so for that we’ll be highlighting our favourite personalities to look to when it comes to the style department.

Whenever we wake up in the mornings, staring at our wardrobes with no clue whatsoever on what to wear, we indubitably switch on a channel in our minds – one that features our favourite style icons – and watch in glee as the myriad of looks sweep past.

So basically, in times of a sartorial rut, these are just the people we look to for a daily dose of inspiration and some of whom have more than influenced our style – in one way or the other. From Cara Delevinge to Kate Moss and Anna Dello Russo, they’re all in here.

Sarah Jessica Parker

“If you asked me back in my twenties whether I liked SJP’s style I would have said no. It’s too eclectic, sometimes crazy and mostly unexpected. But that’s exactly why I love it now. Apart from playing Carrie Bradshaw (she was styled by Particia Field in the series) and creating some iconic looks in Sex and the City (SATC), she is also as stylish and fearless in real life and on the red carpet. What I love most about her style is that it’s all about having fun with fashion instead of taking it too seriously. She always looks confident and comfortable in what she’s wearing – something I cannot say about many other celebs who mostly rely on stylists to dress them up. She keeps inspiring women at any age to dress as they like to by discarding every rule in the book.“

Miroslava Duma

“The petite, former editor of Harper’s Bazaar Russia, Miroslava Duma is hands down my favourite. She exudes a charming sense of style that simply works no matter what she’s wearing. Perhaps it’s because she looks like she could still pass off as teenager (which I tend to get from people as well) that makes me want to have her as my older sister – just so I could steal her clothes. Miroslave Duma definitely embodies the spunk and sophistication that I crave for when dressing up. It’s the best of two worlds no?”

Audrey Hepburn

“When I was growing up, no matter what we were doing, my mum always had Audrey Hepburn movies playing on the television. Since the age of 5 I remember dressing up like her, acting like her and wanting to be her – I even dressed up as her in Breakfast at Tiffany’s for Halloween when I was 8. Her closet was teaming with fashion staples that are still being worn by women today – for example, the classic little black dress, cropped trousers, stylish hats and oversized sunnies. There’s no doubt that Hepburn’s effortless elegance will inspire for many years to come.“

Anna Dello Russo

“Anna Dello Russo will always be my fashion inspiration. She’s daring, bold and fearless in her outfit choices and regardless of what she’s wearing, she accessorises with the best shoes, bags and head gear. Most importantly, her truckload of confidence that enables her to command the attention of everybody she walks past as she unapologetically struts down the street in the most ostentatious of prints and colours. I love how she translates her energy and zest into all her outfits, which makes her look like she’s having a ton of fun playing dress up everyday – which is what fashion should ultimately be about. ”

Cara Delevigne

“I think Cara Delevigne resonates strongly with me as a style icon. Not because I can emulate her fashion sense – don’t have the figure for it, nor the personality – but because she is relatable to both teenagers and young women alike. She’s independent, sassy, can sing and has great street style to boot. These are things that make her admirable to me, as a 20-something. She’s also got this inexplicable fairy-like quality and girliness, so her look is very versatile with different kinds of styles. I suppose if I was her size, I’d dress similarly too. For the moment, I do, however, try to mimic her rad eye-make-up now and then.“

Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) in Gossip Girl

“I didn’t watch the series because of its story line, but just to see Serena’s outfits! I have almost never seen a scene where she doesn’t look stunning. So, checking out her style and her statement accessories was my obsession. Perfect color-coordination, fabulous prints and gorgeous jewels…her style is such an inspiration to me.”

Kate Moss

“She is not vegan, not athletic and certainly too skinny. In complete opposition with the lifestyle trend of the moment, Kate Moss may not be the best icon to envy, but, it’s exactly why I like her and her style. She is a true icon in my opinion. She doesn’t follow trends. She exudes comfort and style with just black or grey jeans, leather and tiny jewellery. She is always a great fashion inspiration and most importantly of all, we share the same passion for Indian ankle boots like Minnetonka.”
