Put your noses to the test and discover some uniquely Singaporean scents that were specially concocted to celebrate SG50.

The one smell that tourists would remember from Singapore is probably that of the King of Fruits, the glorious durian. However, that’s not all our island nation is capable of and that’s exactly what AllSense, leading designer of scents for brands, hotels and retailers has proven with the series, ’50 Scents of Singapore.’

What was a 12 month-long project that involved guided scented walks through 8 significant routes around Singapore such as Gardens By The Bay, Joo Chiat, Kampong Glam and Chinatown, culminated into a series of specially concocted scents with industry leader, International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF). Participants who went on the olfactory walks were essentially invited to note down their emotions and thoughts while on the trails, which played a part in the making of the smells. The 50 scents not only commemorates Singapore’s 50th birthday, it brings to light (or smell) all of the nation’s uniqueness, with smells like Dempsey Durian, Jin Jin Ice Kachang, Balestier Bak Kut Teh as well as the Botanical Garden’s Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchid, making up the collection.

All 50 scents will also be represented on a scent map that will be unveiled to the public at a nostalgia themed pop up booth at Raffles City Shopping Mall. For those who missed out on the scent walks, AllSense will be producing 8 scent walk maps covering different parts of the island so that you too can discover the city in a ‘scent-sational’ manner.

And if you find yourself getting acquainted with a particular scent so much that you’d like to keep it, well you can! Each of the bottle will be retailed for SGD8 and SGD28 for a box of 5, that will be packaged in a takeaway box to keep in line with the Singapore theme.

Now go forth and put your noses to the test!

50 Scents of Singapore will be exhibited at the Raffles City Mall, Garden Court, Level 1 till 12 August, 10am to 10pm.
