Based in Hong Kong, Twisted Sisters or TwS is a label that focuses on delivering unfettered yet style-forward pieces without restraint. Here’s why the name shouldn’t scare you off.

While the name of the brand may bring to mind some macabre and dreary connotations, let’s just start by re-assuring you that the label is not in the least bit goth or punk. Far from it in fact.

Established in 2011, Twisted Sisters, now known as TwS, debuted their collection at the Copenhagen International Fashion Fair and in Fashion Munich before getting picked up by various outlets around the world. Now based in Hong Kong, designer Maria Mak is essentially focused on delivering apparel that brilliantly blends conceptual elements with minimalist sensibilities.

For the Autumn/ Winter 2025-16 line, TwS tones it down a little as compared to previous seasons by introducing more clean, unfettered and classic silhouettes. Aptly titled, ‘Tranquility’, the colour palette itself reflects the calm, freeing nature with blacks, grays, and whites along with a few pops of dusty pinks and blues. Coupled with the floaty hemlines and loose-fitting culottes and jackets, it’s safe to say that there’s an effortless ease that exudes from the pieces. We could easily imagine going from a business meeting to a casual brunch with friends in those exceptionally versatile blazers.

All in all, the collection carries a good mix of sporty details, refined lines and creative injections by way of cuts and materials. We have to say Mak sure does carry a good eye for melding several unassuming ideas to result in one grand collection that’s cohesive yet individualistic in its own right.

So the next time you spot a TwS logo or Twisted Sisters in your friend’s wardrobe, don’t let your fear escape you because if anything it’s bound to be a flirty, dusty pink dress that twirls without a care.

Twisted Sisters is available online and at selected stockists worldwide.
