From sky-high stilettos to classic heels, this week, we’ve put together our favourite pair of shoes.

Sure diamonds may have been given the ultimate status as a woman’s best friend but frankly, in our case, shoes will be our best friends forever and in all alternate universes – even where shoes are a foreign concept.

Since the weekend is near – that means soirees, parties and little shindigs to let your hair loose – we’ve put together our favourite pair of shoes that we already own or desperately want to wear out. Now this should have you sifting through your personal collection for a favourite pair to flaunt about in town!

Christian Louboutin striped damask pumps

“Like SATC’s Carrie says ‘I don’t play favourite with my shoes’, I really don’t but this particular pair is one which I treasure for a very particular reason. And no, it is not because of its trademark red sole.

Louboutin’s Greissimo Damask platforms strike a rather personal chord with me – they’re made from the traditional Damask silk which is very particular to the Levant region – my home.
This fabric is widely seen in souvenir shops around Beirut and Damascus, mostly used to make jewellery pouches and home deco products, and I grew up seeing it everywhere, hence it bring me back so many memories from back home.
Mr. Louboutin himself once owned a holiday home in Syria and he was continuously inspired by its rich culture – which is why he used this fairly humble fabric in his luxurious designs. Spotting it while on one of my trips in London, I could not resist it. For me, a pair like this is worth every penny and is something I will treasure forever.”

Sophia Webster coco rainbow pumps, approx. SGD760

“I have been looking high and low for the perfect first-official-pay heels but honestly the it’s been one tough ride. The dilemma is whether to go with a classic pair of Louboutins for instance or something quirky and vibrant – a pair that I’ll always remember. Although I’ll remember all my shoes, no question there. So while I’ve yet to find the One, I do have a bunch on my wishlist and of course it’ll be a pair from Sophia Webster. These are essentially ideal for when I’m looking to dress down but yet create a subtle pop. Heels like these will always come in handy. ”

Giuseppe Zanotti olinda suede mules, approx. SGD1073

“Simple, sexy and ultra-flattering. These Giuseppe Zanotti suede mules are on the top of my wish list for this season. They’re versatile enough to take any look from day to night and will go with anything in your closet…literally.

Perfect for fall, pair these mules with a pant suit for a super chic yet fashionable office outfit. And when the sun goes down, rock these pin-toed heels with some leather leggings, an oversized tee and some fun accessories.”

Alexander McQueen swarovski crystal-embellished patent-leather sandals, approx. SGD1389

“The juxtaposition of patent leather with suede and velvet provided a really nice balance of elegance and attitude which is a key factor that I look for in my shoes. Absolutely love how the ribbon ankle ties, that are threaded through Swarovsky crystal-encrusted loops, add a lovely saccharine twist to mainstream minimalist sandals. This pair is definitely my most coveted shoe of the year – time to say goodbye to my next pay check!”

Studded kitten heels

“I love this pair of pointed kitten heels that I own. I love the faux snakeskin pattern, it looks classy without being over-the-top and the gold sequins add some spunk to it – especially on the heel. Although in theory, I love how sky high platforms look and I do own a few pairs that have garnered more-than-appreciative looks, I am quite terrible with walking in them so they mostly just sit and gather dust. This pair is stylish, functional and comfortable! It also cost me under SGD50!”

Havaianas X Mara Hoffman flip-flops, approx. SGD56

“My next acquisition will not be an extravagant pair of stilettos but definitely THE most beautiful Havaianas flip-flops ever from their latest 2014 limited collection, Havaianas X Mara Hoffman. They are stylish, colourful and a bit mystical. Absolutely going on my wish list.”

Christian Louboutin Gamma Talon Daim, approx. SGD1008

“I have always dreamt about owning a pair of Louboutins because only Christian Louboutin knows how to create a sublime fit with the perfect arch. These vibrant heels could be seen as original as well as classic with its definitive red sole.”

Christian Louboutin Bianca 140mm, approx. SGD1072

“I love hell not in the sombre sense but in terms of shoes, I mean I love “really high as hell” heels. They are the kind of shoes that you know you should not wear out all night because the eventual pain would be unbearable. And, the pair of stilettos that is the most emblematic of my tortured love for high heels is clearly the Louboutin. It is just the perfect match of black and red soles. For me, the louboutins are an essential element of a good wardrobe.”
