Revisit some of Italy’s finest designers and marvel at their most exquisite work at the upcoming exhibition that celebrates the ‘Made in Italy’ stamp.

Whenever we think of Italian fashion, a certain level of finesse comes to mind. Finesse that basically seeps through every centimeter of their thread. Irrefutably, Italian designers are lauded the world over for their impeccable attention to tailoring and quality, as much as for their keen sartorial eye that need not be questioned.

To celebrate some of the esteemed fashion houses in Italy, the ’60 Years Of Made In Italy’ exhibition, developed by StilePromoItalia will be held at Scotts Square, along Orchard Road in Singapore. The exhibition, curated by fashion journalists Fiorella Galgano and Alessia Tota, will travel from 1951’s exquisite Haute Couture era to present day pret-à-porter creations.

A total of 30 treasured dresses from fashion house archives and private collectors will be on display. They include works of Italian luminaries like Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Prada, and Emilio Pucci. Other renowned Italian fashion designers included are Alberta Ferretti, Dolce & GabbanaEtro, Fendi, Gianfranco Ferrè, Gucci, Max Mara, Missoni, MoschinoRoberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace.

Amongst the pieces on display, visitors will be thrilled to see a couple of silver screen and red carpet dresses worn by talented actresses. For instance, the mythical Gattinoni’s ‘Impero’ dress, worn by Audrey Hepburn in War and Peace (1956), which earned Fernanda Gattinoni an Oscar nomination for Best Costume. Other equally eminent pieces include Galitzine’s famous trend-setting ‘Palazzo Pyjamas’, worn by Claudia Cardinale in The Pink Panther (1963), and the stunning corset-dress designed by Luciano Soprani for actress Jacqueline Bisset, who wore it in The Wild Orchid (1988).

Additionally, keep an eye out for the beautiful tulle, sequins and gold-embroidered Prada dress worn by actress Cate Blanchett at the 2000 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and the rather iconic Valentino red creation that Elizabeth Hurley dazzled in at the 1998 Estee Lauder charity ball.

As you make your way through the showcase, prepare to have your jaws involuntarily dropped and eyes widened in awe as you take in the pristine creations of the Italy’s finest.

The exhibition will run from 30 October to 9 November 2014 at Scotts Square. Admission is free.
