Timeless and effortlessly chic, there’s definitely a place in every girl’s wardrobe for an LBD or two. We pick our favourites.

Both the zenith of elegance and a symbol of sophistication, an LBD (short for little black dress) is a timeless classic that has been ubiquitous on runways, red carpets even the streets ever since it was revolutionized by Coco Chanel. Known for its subtle charm and versatility, forget diamonds – we say an LBD is undoubtedly every girl’s best friend.

While the appeal of an LBD is in its simplicity, that should not stop you from accessorising it. Simple yet chic, what this iconic dress is to girls is analogous to what a blank canvas is to painters; A blank untainted sheet for one to exercise their freedom of expression through their style choices be it through their arm candyshow-stopping nail colours or bold footwear.

With a basic LBD, the styling possibilities are infinite. Pop a scarf over your head for a lazy snug day ahead, or display the anti-establishment with ripped tights followed by elements of leather, vinyl and studs. Preferably some velvet for that added grunge effect as well. Don’t be afraid to make full use of LBD’s extensive vocabulary to take on different persona. Just go wild experimenting!

Alternatively, adopt minimalism and allow intricately designed LBDs to speak for themselves. Whether it is the dainty lace, immaculate folds or exaggerated tulle, let them take centre stage and bask in their rightful glory. Any added frills will only serve to insult the details of your LBD!

Word of advice, finding the perfect LBD for you is like finding your other half; something which you definitely don’t want to rush into. Take your time to source for the LBD that stops your heart the moment you step into the store and then proceeds to cause massive palpitations as you inch closer to it, because this is the LBD for you.
