For the upcoming National Day weekend, skip the usual solid red and white as we show you different ways to display your patriotism in the flag’s colours.

Singapore celebrates her 49th birthday since gaining independence on August 9th. And the simplest way legions of patriotic individuals are going to show their love is to be dressed in the nation’s flag colours, red and white.

Now, pairing solid red and white together in a t-shirt and shorts combination is an easy cop out to dressing up.  We say, ditch that and instead experiment with prints, stripes and accessories. That way you can look effortlessly put together as you would any other day and still be able to exude some exuberant nationalistic pride.

Stripes

Besides the usual solid colour blocking, go for a striped top in red and white and complete the look with denim jeans. Keep accessories to neutral shades and you’re all set to join in the revelry.

Prints

If stripes are not your thing then opt for some prints and mixed patterns. It could be florals, geometric shapes, polka dots or tartan, this is essentially the easiest way to stand out from the sea of solid red and white.

Accessories

Red may not be your favourite colour and if wearing bold red puts you off then consider accessorizing with red necklaces or a flower brooch pinned to a white top. Otherwise just paint the town red with a pair of stunning red shoes.

So save the conventional ‘I Love SG’ t-shirts and instead rummage through your wardrobe for some other stylish options!
