Why Origin Bar’s new Gossip Night might just be our favourite ladies’ night yet

Let’s face it: for the vast majority of us who are way past the heyday of our twenties, the idea of roughing it out on ladies night’ in a raucous club or bar starts to lose its appeal – massively.

If your idea of a midweek catchup with the girls is more muted one so to speak, hear us out: Origin Bar has unveiled its new Gossip Night, its weekly ladies evening. Happening every Wednesday evening, it ticks the boxes on everything you’d want from the perfect night out with the girls’: great ambience, delicious cocktails, and soulful live music from the uber-talented Nick Zavior.

Each month, Head Bartender Bystrik Uko will curate a dedicated cocktail menu focusing on a single spirit. This July, its menu focuses on the Cointreau, its spirit of the month. Exclusively available on its Gossip Night, the cocktails are what you’d consider as traditionally ‘girly’ brews – but perfectly executed in a way that makes them stand in the same league as its other signature tipples.

Having tried the cocktails ourselves, we found them to be refreshing, not overpoweringly sweet, perfectly balanced in flavour, and didn’t leave us feeling worse for wear the next day. Our favourite was probably the Clear Strawberry Margarita, a delightfully refreshing take on the classic margarita consisting of a re-distilled strawberry tequila, Cointreau orange liquer, citrus cordial and salted agave. (It was so good that we ordered seconds – maybe a third, between you and me.)

We also loved the Citrus Glory a citrusy medley infused with the Cointreau orange liquer, honey distillate, three citrus cordial and lemon for an extra citrusy punch. There’s also the Dreamliner, featuring the Cointreau orange liquer, raspberry and kaffir lime shrub, lemon and topped with soda, for a light, fizzy tipple. All cocktails will be available at SDG16++ per glass.

If your night is missing a little bubbles, opt for a glass (SGD16++) or bottle of the Veuve Clicquot champagne (SGD90++). There’s also scrumptious bar bites like the juicy sliders to go along with your drinks. In a bid to spoil you the only way you deserve, Origin Bar will be treating the first 50 ladies to arrive with a welcome cocktail on the house. Not a bad way to wind down on Wednesdays, in our humble opinion.

We mean it: Origin Bar’s ladies night might just be the only ladies night we’d drag our ever-so creaky limbs and give up our increasingly earlier bedtimes for.

Officially launching July 4, 2018, Origin Bar’s Gossip Night will take place every Wednesday evening from 6 PM onwards.
