ATLAS Bar’s afternoon tea will whisk you away to the 1920s

updated the 11 April 2018 à 10:36

The only thing missing was our flapper dresses and 1920s crimp.

Think high tea and the delightfully opulent and swanky ATLAS Bar might not necessarily be the first spot that comes to mind.

However, its impressive gin selection and cocktail menu aren’t the only mixes this stunning art-deco bar can concoct. They’ve introduced their elegant Afternoon Tea menu, available in either the ATLAS Selection (SGD52) or the Prestige Selection (SGD56). Each set, distinguished only the types of tea in its selection, is specially curated to include an impressive collection of teas from around the world.

THE TEA

Pick your preferred tea from either the ATLAS or Prestige Selection. The ATLAS Selection includes teas like the Milk Oolong, Royal English Breakfast and The ATLAS Art Deco Blend to name a few, while the Prestige Selection features more exotic blends, like the Himalayan Shangri-La Gold, Huoshan Yellow Bud, Formosa Oriental Beauty and more.

We found the teas delightfully light, fragrant and exquisitely blended. P.S. We highly recommend the Himalayan Shangri-La Gold from the Prestige menu (an intricate Nepalese black tea infused with rich amber honey and malt notes) and the ATLAS Art Deco Blend from the ATLAS menu!

THE TREATS

We started with a warm canapé of Mushrooms ragout, crunch barley, potatoes espuma which was all kinds of comforting and pleasing to the tastebuds, and eased us right into the actual show-stopper: the afternoon tea treats platter.

The tea bites arrive in a beautiful and elegant two-tier tray, with the bottom platter for the savoury treats, and the top for the sweet. The savoury tier features a sumptuous selection of iberico salmon on toast, cured salmon on a glutinous rice cracker, mock truffle raviolo, among others.

Make your way up to the top tier for the sweet selection, which include madeleines, canelé, French-style scones, a G&T inspired dessert, salted caramel bon bon and more.

You might be tempted to dive in right away, but there’s a method to which bite to tuck into first and which to nibble away last. Executive Chef Daniele recommends starting with the Croque Monsieur and Crab Croquette while its still warm as well as the Cured Salmon  while the cracker is still crunchy!

For the sweets tier, alternate the sweets with some of the more acidic bites for the best experience.

THE TIPPLE

If you’re looking for a little tipple to go with your tea, you can also request for the added option of the Louis Roederer “Brut Premier (SGD18), Pierre Peters “Rose for Albane” (SGD36) and Piper Heidsieck “Rare” (SGD65). It’ll be a welcome boozy kick to your afternoon.

SO, WOULD WE RECOMMEND IT?

Three words: a resounding ‘yes’!

With its vintage art deco vibes, the ATLAS afternoon tea experience was truly a unique one as far as high tea in Singapore goes. In fact, its lounge music and elegant decor had us wishing we were donned in flapper dresses and decked in old Hollywood worthy jewels instead. Its ambience and food scores top marks in our books and certainly comes highly recommended.

The ATLAS High Tea is available Monday to Saturday from 3 to 5PM, starting at SGD52++.
