Cool down while watching the World Cup finals with this whiskey and beer cocktail – concocted by Singapore-based award winning bartender and William Grant & Sons Regional Portfolio Ambassador Zachary Connor de Git.

Whisky lover or not – there are certainly times when you have to ditch wine and Martinis for something a little more casual – and this July happens to be it.

As the FIFA World Cup finals rounds frenzy is taking over this month, we certainly need something more football-friendly to sip while’hanging’ with the guys and pretending we’re interested in who’s got the ball.

Fans of all things hip and exciting – especially when it comes to drinks – we, at Marie France Asia , will be presenting you with a monthly cocktail recipe with the help of one of Singapore’s leading bartenders Zachary Connor de Git.

While at the moment, Zachary spends less time behind the bar and mainly acts as William Grant & Sons Regional Portfolio Ambassador – educating folk like us about Whisky and what have you – we’re very excited to share this July’s recipe which he concocted by unconventionally combining two of the least ladies-friendly spirits out there: whisky and beer.

Ready to take the challenge? We certainly are!

Ginger Brewsky

Ingredients:

25ml Monkey Shoulder Whisky

20ml Ginger Syrup

20ml Fresh Lemon Juice

Beer to top.

Method:

Add all ingredients to a regular cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Strain into a beer mug and top with a beer from your favourite football competing country.

Zachary’s note:

Whilst cocktails have been defined in print for only 207 years, beer in mixed drinks predates this by a large amount of time and this is a tribute to that. The Ginger Brewsky is perfect for hot afternoons (much like what we have here in Singapore and surrounding countries). It’s clean and refreshing with a hit of spice. Perfect for sitting back, relaxing and watching a cheeky game of football.
