If You’re Wondering: Is it safe to use coconut oil on your vagina?

You might be crazy about the coco’ – but is it safe to use on your intimate areas? Find out!

If we had a dollar for everytime our mothers and grandmothers offered coconut oil as a remedy to everything, we’d be pretty flushed with cash.

That coconut oil is widely regarded as the miracle answer to a myriad of health and beauty woes, particularly in Asia, is not new. It’s been touted for its ability to treat dandruff, whiten teeth, promise shiny locks, among others. While its health claims are sometimes unclear, its beauty benefits are certainly untold.

However, you might be surprised to know that its beauty benefits aren’t limited to your face. In fact, many women swear by coconut oil on their intimate areas.

However, is this an old wives’ tale or can you actually use coconut oil “down there”?

As it turns out, there are many ways how you can use coconut oil on your intimate areas. For one, because of its lubricating properties, women experiencing menopause actually swear by it for vaginal dryness.

And if dryness down south isn’t a concern for you, the oil also makes for a great healing ointment after sexual intercourse. Its perks in the bedroom doesn’t just stop there: get this – it also makes for an edible massage oil and lube.

BUT IS IT FOR EVERYONE?

However, its uses aren’t without concern or controversy. If you’re prone to yeast infections, for one, you might want to give the oil a miss. Why? Due to its rather thick consistency, it creates an ideal environment for excessive bacteria and yeast in your intimate areas.

Also, if you find that your vagina is highly sensitive and prone to infections, it’s best to avoid it altogether. As with any other beauty tip or trick you’re trying for the first time, always test a small amount first to see if your body reacts positively to it.

In any case, whether you’re willing to give it a go or prefer to err on the side of caution, maintaining a good hygiene down south is key!
