Go back in time or even live another life vicariously through these riveting books written by local authors.

Enough with the dribble that was 50 Shades of Grey. It’s time to add some literary class to your bookshelf after reading that mindless fantasy from a bored housewife.

No need to look to Shakespeare or Nabokov for intricately layered literary works though. Our very own Singaporean writers will do just fine. Honestly,  we find it very strange that our local writers aren’t getting as much support as they should for the masterpieces they create.

Thus, we’ve picked 10 riveting tales of the Singaporean condition ranging from local stalwarts like Catherine Lim to new and young promising authors like Jerrold Yam.

When we harp on supporting local talent, we definitely also mean to extend that to our local writers support for their hard work, because there is nothing sadder than a book unread.
