Tracing Coco Chanel’s life, ‘The Sense of Places’ will be hosted in the newly inaugurated Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, from August 30th to October 5th, 2014.

Inaugurated last March to host Seoul Fashion Week, the Zaha Hadid-designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is rapidly becoming THE to-go-to place for all things fashion and culture in the South Korean capital.

Starting August 30, this architectural marvel will house the CULTURE CHANEL exhibition entitled ‘The Sense of Places’ – making Seoul a hot destination for Autumn. Great news for those of us who like to combine travel with some culture and fashion.

Curated by Jean-Louis Froment, the man behind CULTURE CHANEL’s previous editions of –  held in Moscow (2007), in Shanghai  and Beijing (2011) and more recently in Guangzhou and Paris (2013) – the exhibition sheds light on the creative language of CHANEL through the locations that greatly inspired its founder Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel.

Through ten sequences, the exhibition highlights particular corresponding landmarks in Coco Chanel’s life story, and how these places which she loved and lived in contributed in forming her stylistic language which continues till today to be the founding grounds of the brand’s philosophy.

Over 500 pieces including photographs, books, objects, manuscripts, archives and artworks along with fashion, jewellery, watch and perfume creations will be displayed at ‘The Sense of Places’ retracing Mademoiselle Chanel’s life story and the mark she left during her time and until today.

If you’re a big fan of Chanel, this is one opportunity to learn about the woman who started it all which we don’t think you should miss.

Seoul, here we come again!

The Sense of Places exhibition will run from August 30 to October 5, 2014. For more information, please visit CULTURE CHANEL’s page.
