Katong
This is probably the tenth time you're seeing this iconic row of shophouses. But, the Katong area houses much more than that. This heritage site will charm you with its nostalgic Peranakan flavours, from building embellishments to architecture. Fall into the embrace of its quaint eateries and shops, which sell everything from antiques to lip-smacking food. Don't miss out on the Katong Antique House which showcases the magnificent Peranakan culture through garments and kitchenware!

Chinatown
Almost every country has their own version of "Chinatown", and Singapore is no exception. Shaded with gaudy lanterns and teeming with old shops, the roads of Chinatown are truly a wonder to walk in. Behold the spectacular architecture of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum replete with ornate roofs and gold-plated signboards. If you're feeling a little peckish mid-day, don't worry. Chinatown is a superb foodie destination as it's rife with snack stalls and food centres such as People's Park and Chinatown Food Street.

Everton Park
Take a quick glance at Everton Park and you'll think it's an ordinary neighbourhood but don't be too quick to judge. This iconic area is brimming with nostalgic wall murals depicting the old Singapore days. From traditional barbers to old provision shops, these stunning paintings will throw you back into the 1960s. While you're in the area, be sure to get your hands on some glistening Ang Ku Kuehs handmade by the famous Ji Xiang Confectionery. If you're craving a cup of coffee, Nylon Coffee Roasters is just around the corner.

Keong Saik
Known as a prominent red-light district in the past, Keong Saik has certainly come a long way. The old brothels and sleazy atmosphere have long gone, with snazzy eateries and coffeeshops swooping in to fill the void. If you're there in the morning, breakfasting at Tong Ah is an absolute must. Their famed kaya toast will set you in the right mood for the rest of the day. At dinnertime, take your pick from classy cafes such as Potato Head Folk and Luxe Sydney. Also, if you didn't snap a picture of the iconic Dong Ya building, were you even at Keong Saik?

Haji Lane
With millenials flocking to this area for aesthetic OOTDs and their fix of vintage cafes, Haji Lane certainly needs no introduction. This road is decked out in gaudy murals wall to wall, playing host to a whole stretch of bars and boutique shops. Ladies, indulge in some retail therapy at Modparade and Grammah, which dabble in trendy vintage apparel. If the heat is getting to you, seek refuge in the cups of creamy soft serve churned out by Moosh. Their bestselling Ondeh Ondeh soft serve is a definite must-try!

Tanjong Pagar
Tanjong Pagar is where rustic meets modern - you've got well-furbished office buildings on one side of the road and an old plaza on the other. But, we're not complaining. Tanjong Pagar Plaza is certainly a breath of fresh nostalgic air in the CBD area. Packed with old shops, SingPost and a hawker centre on the second level, this place is a dream to explore in itself. Walk a little further down Tanjong Pagar Road and you'll be ambushed by a surge of Japanese and Korean eateries. Jjajangmyeon fans, rejoice! You've got Hong Jjajang and Obba Jjajang ready to satisfy your cravings of those slurpy bouncy noodles.

Tiong Bahru
If we had to pick any estate to reside in in Singapore, you can bet Tiong Bahru is one of the top few names in the list. This old neighbourhood was the first public housing estate to be built, which explains why it's spilling with nostalgic vibes. If you look at the road signs, you'll notice that they're all Chinese names. In fact, they're the names of the prominent early Chinese pioneers. Get in the shade of Tiong Bahru Market, where you'll find long-standing shops and a bustling hawker centre. If you're on the hunt for some teatime treats, Plain Vanilla Bakery's doors are open, ready to indulge you with their selection of luscious pastries.

Jalan Besar
This place is probably no stranger to you. In fact, you've probably been led here by your dim sum cravings that were crying out for Swee Choon Tim Sum Restaurant. But have you taken the time to explore the surrounding area? If you haven't, you've been missing out a great deal. Jalan Besar is home to a myriad of bygone shops and quaint eateries. Chye Seng Huat Hardware is a case in point. This former hardware company now houses an industrial-chic coffee bar that promises an impeccable coffee experience. And, for those of you who are looking to jazz up your house with elegant lights, the array of lighting shops in the area will spoil you for choice.
