For many, the thought of weddings and no alcohol<\/a> might seem like (gasp!) wedding blasphemy.<\/p>

But over here in Southeast Asia, 'dry weddings' are a lot more common than in other parts of the world, typically for religious reasons.<\/p>

For one, if you've ever attended a Muslim wedding<\/a> (whether its a Malay-Muslim or\u00a0Indian-Muslim<\/a>\u00a0one), you'll find that it's a cultural norm to not have any alcohol at the wedding.<\/p>

Although we'd like to think that the scrumptious food<\/a>\u00a0makes up for the lack of booze, the idea of an alcohol-free wedding can initially take some getting used to, especially for your guests who are used to enjoying a tipple (or two) during weddings to soak up the merriment.<\/p>

So if you're having a 'dry wedding' reception on your special day, but still want a ceremony that your your non-Muslim and non-teetotal friends can still enjoy, fret not. Contrary to its rather uninspiring name, a dry wedding can still be fun - if you know how!<\/p>
