You get a true sense of that quintessential Lebanese warmth and hospitality the minute you step into the quaint space that is Urban Bites on Telok Ayer street. Its rustic terracotta walls and minimal furniture let the true star of the restaurant shine: its food<\/strong>. <\/p>

Lebanese food <\/a>was virtually unheard of in Singapore some 16 years ago before the late Chef Ghazi Khanashat introduced the cuisine to our Singaporean shores in 2001. Affectionately called the 'Godfather' of Lebanese cooking by his friends and customers, he helmed several restaurants in the city before opening Urban Bites, his very own Lebanese restaurant, in 2007. Today, his daughter, Christine Khanashat has taken over the reins with a new talented Lebanese Executive Chef, Haroutioun Ara Sayegh.\u00a0<\/p>

Now in its 10th year, the Lebanese restaurant has introduced a new menu, as well as a weekend brunch<\/a> selection - a first for the restaurant. Available on Saturdays from 9.30 to 4PM, the new Urban Bites brunch selection includes over 10 Lebanese-inspired breakfast dishes<\/strong> like the heavenly Cheese Manouche<\/strong> (SGD16), Eggs with Lamb Shashouka<\/strong> (SGD20), Lebanese Big Breakfast<\/strong> and more. Complement your meal with a robust cup of Lebanese coffee or mint tea<\/a> for a weekend brunch that will satiate all your senses. New Chef Ara has also breathed new life into original menu favourites into revamped renditions that will speak to the palates of the discerning urban diner. <\/p>

\u201cThere is an age-old tradition of warm hospitality that exists in Lebanese culture,\u201d Christine Khanashat shares. \u201cFood is life and sharing it among friends and family is one of the great joys; that is what we want for our customers here at Urban Bites.\u201d <\/p>

Lebanese food, like other Mediterranean cuisine<\/a>, is probably one of the most wholesome and healthiest cuisines to exist, heavily featuring a staple of legumes and pulses like chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans and more. Christine prides the restaurant on their efforts to be socially responsible in their cooking, going the extra mile to source for sustainable food sources and importing ingredients and produce from Lebanon to stay true to her father\u2019s authentic recipes. <\/p>
