Well good news for coffee drinkers, because despite warnings from health professionals, scientists have recently relaunched the debate on the benefits of caffeine, and they\u2019ve found some startling results.<\/p> <p class=\"p1\">Drinking <strong>several cups of coffee a day<\/strong> could greatly reduce the risk of developing diseases as well as increase life expectancy. This is demonstrated by the results of two new studies done in Europe and the United States, published in the American Journal<span class=\"s1\" >\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/annals.org\/aim\/article\/2643435\/coffee-drinking-mortality-10-european-countries-multinational-cohort-study\"><em>Annals Of Internal Medicine<\/em><\/span><\/a>.<\/p> <h2 class=\"p4\"> <span>3 Cups of coffee a day for higher life expectancy<\/span> <\/h2> <p><span style=\"display: block;\" class=\"wrap-img\" id=\"wrap-img-265153\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-265153 img-responsive \" src=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2017\/07\/pexels-photo-302899-1024x544.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"690\" height=\"366\" \/><\/span><\/p> <p class=\"p4\">The first study, conducted in 10 European countries under the <a href=\"http:\/\/epic.iarc.fr\/\"><span class=\"s2\" >European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and performed on a panel of more than 521,000 people aged 35 and older, showed that lifespans were longer among people consuming three cups of coffee per day, decaffeinated or not. Marc Gunter of the International Agency for Research on Cancer explains,\u00a0<em>\u201cWe found that higher coffee consumption was associated with a lower risk of death from any cause, and specifically for circulatory diseases, and digestive diseases\u201d.<\/em><\/p> <p class=\"p5\">For researchers, this is due in part to the high <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/on-my-plate\/10-antioxidant-fruits-19013.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">antioxidant content <\/a>in coffee.<\/p> <h2 class=\"p5\"> <span>Coffee reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease<\/span> <\/h2> <p><span style=\"display: block;\" class=\"wrap-img\" id=\"wrap-img-265158\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-265158 img-responsive \" src=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2017\/07\/pexels-photo-302905-1024x544.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"690\" height=\"366\" \/><\/span><\/p> <p class=\"p5\">The second study conducted in the United States on more than 185,000 people, aged 45 to 75 years, found that increased coffee consumption reduced the mortality rate resulting from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/healthy-practices\/wellbeing-tips\/good-habits-maintain-healthy-heart-256990.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cardiovascular diseases<\/a>, respiratory and kidney diseases, and also diabetes.<\/p> <p class=\"p5\">However, though the results from this research are quite positive, the researchers point out that both studies are observational and not experimental.\u00a0Further research should be conducted in order to prove a causal link between caffeine and the the human lifespan.
