With the invention of acne pads, you no longer have to squeeze the benzoyl peroxide gel out laboriously in your bathroom. Acne pads are soaked with varying concoctions, all aimed to reduce redness and control breakouts. So, all you need to do is to swipe them across your face and you're all set!<\/p>

But, is it really that simple?<\/p>

Bright Side: There are a few perks to it<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2>

Acne pads are usually formulated with salicylic acid, with varying percentages depending on the intensity of the product. Salicylic acid essentially exfoliates one\u2019s skin<\/strong>, shedding away clogged pores and reducing\u00a0inflammation. This means that they are able to remove blackheads and whiteheads, while controlling oil production. <\/p>

Compared to alternatives, acne pads are much easier to use<\/strong>. With a single\u00a0pad, you are able to cleanse and manage your skin<\/a>, then just throw it away. There is no fuss about it, unlike other options where there are certain procedures to undertake before cleansing. Often packaged in a small container, they are often travel-friendly<\/strong> and fuss-free as well. More than just the removal of dirt from our skin, some brand\u00a0brands can also exfoliate and remove makeup, which reduces yet another step in the skincare process<\/a>. <\/p>

But, be cautious!<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2>

However, not everyone can use it<\/strong>. Dermatologists have advised people with darker skin to practice caution when dealing with salicylic acid<\/strong>. Due to the higher levels of melanin in their skin, the acid may react negatively and stain the skin permanently<\/strong>. People with sensitive skin<\/a> also have to be wary because the pads may dry out your skin tremendously \u2014 especially if you are using a product with a higher concentration to clear stubborn acne. <\/p>

Even if you do not have sensitive skin, using these pads daily might not be the best option\u2026 unless, of course, it is manufactured for daily usage, because of the harsh chemicals. Some people have noted negative side-effects<\/strong> like redness, peeling, and flaking<\/strong>\u00a0after cleansing, so one should be on the lookout for telltale signs of distress on your skin, and either reduce the frequency or discontinue usage if it persists. <\/p>

Further, some brands recommend higher usage of sunscreen post-cleansing as it heightens sensitivity in your skin, making it more vulnerable to ultraviolet rays<\/strong>. In sunny Singapore, this is a big area of concern\u00a0as the weather fluctuates immensely, and getting a sunburn to prevent further skin damage seems quite counteractive.<\/p>

And we haven't begun\u00a0to talk about the effectiveness of wipes, in general<\/a>, when it comes to skincare.<\/p>

Ultimately, at the end of the day, the effectiveness of these acne pads differs based on your skin type and the severity of blemishes. But it is hard to argue against the convenience and ease-of-use of the pads that makes it oh-so-attractive. The most important thing\u00a0is knowing what works for your skin and modifying what\u00a0doesn't.<\/p>
