In addition to screening films from Asia, USA and Europe, SGIFF will also put the\u00a0spotlight on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/culture\/entertainment\/eye-spy-8-indie-places-watch-atypical-films-91356.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">independent films<\/a>\u00a0from countries that audiences may be less familiar with, such as Latin American Cinema and Estonian and Nepalese shorts.<\/p> <p>Beyond its film premieres and screenings, SGIFF is\u00a0organising a series of dialogue sessions with ArtScience Museum for <em>ArtScience on Screen: In Conversation With<\/em>, where festival-goers\u00a0will get the chance to hear film insights and experiences from award-winning\u00a0director, screenwriter and producer Darren Aronofsky - \u00a0the director of\u00a0<em>Requiem for a Dream<\/em> (2000), <em>The Wrestler<\/em> (2008) and, of course,\u00a0<em>Black Swan<\/em> (2010). The festival will also screen his first feature film <em>Pi<\/em>, which won him the Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival in 1998, as part of <strong><em>An Evening with Darren Aronofsky<\/em><\/strong>.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p> <p>The diversity in its film curation every year is testimony to the festival's commitment to bringing together a rich mix of independent film-making talent in both Asia and beyond, as the leading international film platform in Southeast Asia. SGIFF is an event of the SMF, hosted by the Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA).
