This year, Longines<\/strong> <\/a>introduced its new watch model, the Longines Railroad <\/strong>-\u00a0a fresh take on an older classic watch model from the 1960s. In the '60s, Longines had developed a timepiece\u00a0that was worn by railwaymen and railroad engineers from the world over (hence, its name). As work on the rail placed great emphasis on punctuality and efficiency, this timepiece <\/a>was crafted with specific aesthetics, quality and extreme precision -\u00a0requirements all necessary for work on the rail.<\/p>

Today, the new Longines Railroad remains largely faithful to the original model. Lacquered in a glossy ivory finish, this sober three-hand watch is one of the few modern Longines remakes today without a date window. The letters\u00a0'RR' (stands for Rail Road) that was on the earlier dial can also be seen on this newest model, although the original '280' indication has been replaced by the\u00a0'888' lettering to reflect the new movement driving the model. The timepiece is powered by the self-winding L888.2 calibre and beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour with a 64-hour power reserve.<\/p>

<\/span><\/p>

With its elegant black alligator-skin bracelet <\/a>and intricate engravings on the back of the timepiece inspired from the pocket watches designed for railway companies in the 1920s, this is without doubt a timepiece for the sophisticated.<\/p>

The new Longines RailRoad is now available in all Longines boutiques. <\/em><\/p>
