As\u00a0what is considered one of the oldest film festivals in the world, Venice International Film Festival<\/strong> is no doubt the grand dame of cinematic award shows - right alongside Cannes.<\/a> Which is why year in and year out, the style stakes on the red carpet continue to soar, as much as the talent presented on screens<\/a>\u00a0do. And this time for the 72nd edition, let's just say the celebrities\u00a0were definitely prepared.<\/p>

However, instead of the usual elaborate and brightly-coloured variations of yester years, the first day of the film festival was exceptionally elegant as a stream of\u00a0black and white gowns floated on the red carpet for the premiere of Everest<\/em>. From Diane Kruger's ethereal Prada gown to Paz Vega's gorgeous beaded Ralph & Russo dress, we couldn't help but stare agape as the images rolled in.<\/p>

Alongside them were Viann Zhang, Alessandra Ambrosio,\u00a0Clotilde Courau and\u00a0Radha Mitchell who continued the monochrome parade with sheergrace. We don't know what the next few days will hold but let's just savour these sartorial stars<\/a> for now.<\/p>
