The 90s were such fun times. From Britney Spears hits to plaid shirts and\u00a0how could we forget the bold makeup looks (think frosted or metallic<\/a> lip shades)?<\/p>

An era later and we are diving right back into our 90s closet to borrow some trends. In the beauty word, the makeup of those times has re-emerged in the form of 'grunge makeup'. Back in the day, this look incorporated\u00a0a lot of black and brown eyeliners <\/a>as well as dark lip shades. However, the modern day 'grunge look' is slightly more pared\u00a0down, sophisticated and entirely wearable.<\/p>

So before you go forth and revel in the grunge look, we've put together a nifty guide to creating the ideal\u00a0version.<\/p>

BASE<\/span> <\/h2>

When prepping your base, always remember that less is more. The look focuses on embracing your natural skin and not adding too much coverage. Essentially, it calls for a hydrated base topped with either tinted moisturizer or a BB\/ CC cream. You do not need to add a blush<\/a> but if you're looking for a slight colour, use a cheek stain.<\/p>

EYE MAKEUP<\/span> <\/h2>

There are two basic looks when it comes to the revamped 90s makeup look - classically minimal or smoky. Both of these looks utilize the same shades and tools but what differs would be the intensity with which is it applied.<\/p>

LIPS<\/span> <\/h2>

To achieve a toned down 90s lip that's still keeping with the essence of a 'grunge look', opt for a cappuccino or burgundy lipstick shade. If you are creating an eye look that is defined, opt for a simple matte nude lipstick.<\/p>
