For the uninitiated, we'll enlighten you on the history of the Dragonboat Festival that will take place on June 20.<\/p>

Also known as Duanwu Festival, the Chinese <\/a>commemorate this day by eating dumplings made of glutinous rice to honour the poet and minister, Qu Yuan who drowned himself when the empire fell. The villagers tried to protect his body from the fishes by throwing in sticky rice dumplings while racing in boats towards him, hence the tradition carries on till today.<\/p>

Now dumplings are no longer used as fish food, and for good reason! Rice dumplings or bak changs<\/em> have taken on a opulence of their own with these glutinous rice parcels stuffed with goodies like dried scallops, pork and even abalone.<\/p>
