Son, you shall be a\u00a0doctor! This is certainly the hope of 19% of parents for their children, globally. Engineering and Computer Science\u00a0come as second\u00a0vocation of choice afterwards. In Singapore, 15% of parents hope for their children to take on a career in Medicine, while 5% prefer Engineering and 6% root for Computer Science.<\/p>

IT'S YOUR DESTINY!<\/span> <\/h2>

Of the 5,550 parents surveyed by HSBC - in 16 countries - for the report entitled \u00a0The Value of Education<\/a>, three-quarters have a favourite occupation for their children since their entry to\u00a0kindergarten...! Note that 83% of parents\u00a0also hope that their children will not occupy the same job as them.<\/p>

HAPPINESS FOREMOST<\/span> <\/h2>

The study, unveiled in mid-July, also details the motivations of parents surveyed. The majority (64%) would like, above all, the happiness of their offspring.\u00a0This concern is particularly high in developed countries. And in Singapore, where the percentage is among the highest\u00a0and amounts to 61%, parents revealed that their first objective is\u00a0to see\u00a0their children happy, ahead of career success (36%) and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle (32%).<\/p>

Other concerns\u00a0and criteria: the importance of having a good\u00a0salary. In fact,\u00a033% of Singaporean\u00a0parents<\/strong> cite 'earn enough to enjoy a comfortable life' as a major criterion with a global average of\u00a034% of respondents.<\/p>
