The good thing about Jakarta<\/a>'s world-famous traffic jam is it gives you\u00a0a reason to pull over and enjoy the streetside treats as you wait for the cars to clear out.<\/p>

In certain areas, the capital's pavements are lined with a myriad of street vendors. Some of the joints might look murky and some others operate in carts that are\u00a0on the verge of falling apart, but don't let their appearances fool you. They sell a diverse selection of delicacies, from the locals' famed guilty pleasure,\u00a0Martabak Manis\u00a0<\/em>(Sweet Martabak) to the more filling dishes <\/a>like\u00a0Bakso\u00a0<\/em>(meatballs) and the mouthwatering\u00a0Sate Padang.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>

These\u00a0delicious dishes aren't very difficult to make, given they\u00a0only have a handful of primary ingredients<\/a>\u00a0on average. But no matter\u00a0which recipe you pull out of\u00a0the\u00a0Internet, the dishes won't taste the same as the originals on the streets. Once you have a bite\u00a0of the treats\u00a0compiled in our gallery, you'll be coming back for more.<\/p>
