But the popular technique that brightens so much of our clothes and accessories is not exactly accessible to everyone\u2026 that is, until\u00a0<strong>Epson<\/strong> held its<strong> Digital Couture<\/strong> event <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/fashion\/latest-news\/new-york-fashion-week-fall-winter-2015-highlights-2-75252.html\">in New York<\/a>\u00a0last month.<\/p> <p>Epson brought its printing expertise to the fashion world by introducing <strong>SureColor F7170<\/strong>, a new dye sublimation textile printer, priced at \u00a320,000 (approx. SGD45, 000).<\/p> <p>To do so, the Japanese electronics company teamed up with 11 designers, including <strong>Esosa<\/strong> and <strong>Maggie Berry<\/strong>, to stage a couture runway event in Manhattan\u2019s West Village. During the show, the selected designers featured collections made\u00a0with the help of\u00a0the\u00a0printers. The fabrics feature sharp, vivid images with rich colours and intense black, demonstrating the highest quality, design freedom and capabilities of the technology for the fashion industry.<\/p> <p>This printing device uses heat to transfer dye to synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, paper or plastic. Unfortunately, it doesn\u2019t work on high-end fabrics, such as silk, leather and cotton.<\/p> <p>The Japanese market leader aims to offer the fashion industry the easiest, fastest and most affordable alternative to the actual printing method. <em>\u201cEpson\u2019s dye sublimation printing technology provides another level of creativity and functionality for young fashion entrepreneurs and well established fashion brands looking to produce their art in a more efficient and affordable manner\u201d<\/em>, said Agustin Chacon VP at Epson America, Inc.<\/p> <p>As a result,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/fashion\/latest-news\/keepers-singapore-designer-collective-receives-extension-74179.html\"> designers could<\/a> patent their own printing design, with fewer restrictions and more flexibility.
