Whenever Chinese New Year<\/a> swings around, feasting on an assortment of delicacies<\/a> is more than mandatory. So for this week, we've decided to highlight what some of our favourite snacks or dishes are - CNY related or not<\/a> - that always seems to hit the right gastro spots. Anyone feeling hungry just from the mere mention of food yet? Mmmmm.<\/p>

\"I know it's clich\u00e9 but coming from the Middle East, I love my mezze, especially the delicious parsley salad we call 'Tabouleh<\/em>'. It is made of chopped parsley, tomato cubes and cracked wheat we call 'burghul<\/em>' and the dressing is lemon juice, olive oil and some salt. Sadly I don't find it much in Singapore so I tend to make my own when I invite friends over for dinner. Although I get compliments for it, it is nowhere close to being as good as my mom's version... sigh!\"<\/p>

\"My family's previous\u00a0apartment\u00a0was right above 2 row of coffee shops that served delectable local dishes from roti prata <\/em>to\u00a0wanton noodles, <\/em>chicken rice\u00a0and glorious\u00a0satay.<\/em>\u00a0However the one thing that I always craved for upon waking up was\u00a0chee cheong fun<\/em> (rice noodle rolls)\u00a0and till today I've not managed to find one that tastes just as good. \"I can have sushi for lunch and dinner for an entire week and would still want more. By eating sushi I get to eat rice without being guilty or overtly health conscious. I love everything salmon, from aburis<\/em> to makis<\/em> to plain old sushi. Though I wish avocado wasn\u2019t such a popular ingredient to wrap inside the Japanese dish.\"<\/p>

\"Asking to me to pick my favourite food is akin to asking a parent to pick their favourite child. I'm a foodie and I have too many favourites! Steak and fries, fried chicken, Chirashi-don, ramen....how can I possibly choose? But I had to pick my absolute go-to dish, it would be the classic French magret de canard - seared duck breast<\/em>. This dish is notoriously tough to find in Singapore and I always have to go to Juveniles wine bar in Paris for my fix. Or to Le Jardin in Ho Chi Minh City, where I used to live.\u00a0\"<\/p>
