Perhaps being paraded by a\u00a0plethora of optimistic sayings contribute to\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/medical-news\/watch-much-sitting-can-kill-73186.html#post-73186\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent science finding <\/a>that <strong>optimism is ingrained in human nature<\/strong>.<\/p> <p>In other words, we are inclined to look at the bright side of things. It explains why we still go on blind dates despite the horror stories we've heard or experienced.<\/p> <p>The study, published in\u00a0the <em>Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences\u00a0<\/em>earlier this week, involved 100,000 words most frequently used in the world's ten most-spoken languages.The researchers of <strong>University of Vermont and University of Adelaide<\/strong> gathered the most popular words from the internet, social media, books, movies, newspapers and asked five million people to rate them\u00a0as 'happy' or 'sad' on a scale of one to nine.<\/p> <p>According to the mathematical data gathered by the study, people favour\u00a0positive, optimistic words more than negative, cynical ones.<\/p> <p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><strong> Dr Lewis Mitchell<\/strong>, from the University of Adelaide,<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adelaide.edu.au\/news\/news76162.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> said in a statement,<\/a>\u00a0<em>\"It doesn\u2019t matter whether it\u2019s English, Spanish, Russian or Chinese \u2500 the words that make up our languages are universally biased towards positive emotions.\"<\/em><\/p> <h2 class=\"mol-para-with-font\"> <span>The happiest language on Earth<\/span> <\/h2> <p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Even though humans tend to be optimistic across all languages, the language we speak falls on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/expert-advice\/clothes-make-us-happy-18366.html#post-18366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">spectrum of happiness<\/a>. Spanish has been dubbed as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/expert-advice\/clothes-make-us-happy-18366.html#post-18366\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world's happiest<\/a> language, championing over Portuguese, English and Indonesian in the top five.<\/p> <p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Surprisingly, it's not the harsh-sounding German at the bottom of the list. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/fashion\/asia-style\/chinese-new-year-find-perfect-modern-cheongsam-69321.html#post-69321\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chinese, <\/a>Korean and Russian were the \u2018saddest\u2019.<\/p> <p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">So before you shed a tear over a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/entertainment-lifelove\/fairy-tale-wedding-jay-chou-marries-hannah-quinlivan-65953.html#post-65953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">broken heart <\/a>or get struck by the blues on a rainy day, remember you have it in you to be optimistic\u00a0(and happy, if you happen to speak Spanish).
