Let's face it, everyone loves to receive flowers - even if they eventually wilt. They're not only exceptionally beautiful, intoxicatingly scented and profoundly meaningful but they also make for good decor around the house. The only downside? Fresh flower arrangement for decor purposes can be an expensive hobby in Singapore so you probably wouldn't see a lot of people swarming florists here.<\/p>

However, the one day where you'll actually see hoards of men at a florist is Valentine's Day<\/a> as they scurry to get a grand bouquet made with their significant other's favourite bunch of flowers. While some men may have an inkling as to what their partners would like in a bouquet, others may see flowers as uncharted territories. So to help you guys out<\/a>, we sought the advice\u00a0of Singaporean self-taught florist, Pearly Ng<\/strong> from\u00a0Bisoufleur<\/strong> (pronounced as\u00a0bee-soo-flur).<\/p>

Bisoufleur <\/a>is an independent florist specialising mainly in unique blooms and exotic flowers<\/a> from all around\u00a0the world. Pearly believes that everyone should receive a bouquet that tells a story and thus curates\u00a0each and every\u00a0arrangement personally\u00a0based on the\u00a0receiver's\u00a0personality and lifestyle.<\/p>

So if you're looking to giver a bouquet based on your partner's personality then read on for more tips from Pearly.<\/p>

Before arranging flowers:<\/span> <\/h2>
Before doing each bouquet, I will ask for the receiver's personality, type of colours, the nature of her\/ his work and lifestyle. Sometimes I'll even interpret the type of personality she\/ he has through Instagram if I have access to them from the sender. Photos tell a thousand words.\u00a0There are a couple of components that I work with when I customise each bouquet based on my understanding of the receiver's personality.<\/div>
<\/div>

For stronger personalities:<\/span> <\/h2>
I usually go for primary colours such as red, blue.. and stronger colours like royal purple.\u00a0Next I'll look at textures, again, for stronger personalities I like to go for round, solid textures. Wild African flowers will usually fit the bill. They usually have rougher textures to withstand the harsh climate. These flowers are perfect in bouquets for men and they are everlasting cos they dry up beautifully (men usually prefer things that last a lifetime).<\/div>

For gentler personalities:<\/span> <\/h2>

I like to go for earthy, pastel colours. I like each bouquet to speak to the owners so colours play a very important part.\u00a0I'll use softer petals for gentle and shy personalities. That said, the textures will not be compromised. Soft petaled flowers also come in various textures and this will eventually create the form in a bouquet.<\/p>

At times, I create flowers through floriography as well. During the Victorian time, flowers were used to send secret messages. Each flower has a special representation to them, one such example would be the calla lilies. Calla lilies represent purity and rebirth, so when the occasion fits such representation, you'll see calla lilies in your bouquet too.<\/div>
