Receiving a compliment carries the same positive effect as receiving cash. This is according to a study<\/a> published by Forbes in September 2012. Perhaps Ikea had this concept in mind when they introduced the charming motivational mirror into the Wembley store in London<\/a>. The seemingly magic mirror uses Kinect sensor technology to create personalized audio and text compliments on an outfit, look, smile, or shoes of anyone who stands in front of it.<\/p>

As Myriam Ruffo, Head of Bedrooms and Bathrooms at IKEA UK & Ireland, states, \"We believe that starting the day positively - by having a good night\u2019s sleep, spending quality time with loved ones, or creating a boost to our self-esteem<\/a> - will have knock-on effects that shape not only the mood of the individual but that of the nation.\"<\/p>

What an intriguing idea of using a mirror to create a cheerful shopping experience and at the same time boost self-esteem. After all, in front of the mirror is where we tend to judge ourselves and nit pick on appearances the most \u2013 whether negatively or positively.<\/p>

Brands that encourage people to have a more positive image of themselves seem to have understood the greater scheme of things, don't you think?<\/p>
