Oils - specifically those from plants, are not anything new to the beauty industry. They come in forms of moisturisers<\/a>, serums, hair products, and even makeup.\u00a0If you're looking to achieve a healthier, more youthful skin without exposure to harsh chemicals and treatments, invest in a great facial oil - it will make the world of a difference.<\/p>

What is a facial oil?<\/span> <\/h2>

A facial oil is a non-fragrant plant oil that can be used on the face and neck. Contrary to belief - a facial oil will not make your skin more oily than it already is. Yes ladies, it turns out that the ingredient that we have feared for most of our lives can actually help clear common skin problems<\/a>. Using the right combination of oils, ridding skin of unwanted impurities is just one step away. Without unnecessary ingredients such as water and preservatives, oils are instantly absorbed by the skin.<\/p>

Whilst flushing away pimples and other skin issues are major benefits of these products, they have many other uses too. Oils have miraculous anti-aging properties, and they're much better at removing makeup<\/a> than cleansers and wipes. From treating rosacea to eczema, you can choose from a wide variety of formulas, textures and weights - such as, jojoba, maracuja, argan and more. Experiment to find the perfect one for you.<\/p>

Grapeseed, jojoba, avocado, safflower and almond oils are inexpensive, and are available at most local health food stores and pharmacies.<\/p>

How to use a facial oil?<\/span> <\/h2>

With facial oils, a little goes a long way. After cleansing, toning<\/a> and exfoliating - you can apply the oils straight onto your face. Simply use 4-5 drops and gently pat it onto your skin.<\/p>

Our tip:<\/strong> If you aren't comfortable with slathering an oil directly on to your face, try mixing it with your daily moisturiser first.<\/p>

What to look out for?<\/span> <\/h2>

When choosing the perfect oil for your skin, steer clear of products that contain essential or fragrant oils<\/a> (such as lavender, or anything with citrus). The fragrant properties contain compounds that could severely irritate your skin. Citrus oils should be avoided as they are photo toxic when exposed to UV rays\u2026which means your skin will be left discoloured.<\/p>

So whether you suffer from oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin; next time you are scouring the beauty aisles, consider trying out a facial oil. You won't regret it.<\/p>
