Here are 10 things that can boost your memory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"color: #333333\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/05\/iStock_000034559332Small-365x200.jpg\"><span style=\"display: block;\" class=\"wrap-img\" id=\"wrap-img-21949\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" itemprop=\"thumbnailUrl\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-21949 img-responsive \" src=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2014\/05\/iStock_000034559332Small-365x200.jpg\" alt=\"iStock_000034559332Small-365x200\" width=\"465\" height=\"255\" \/><\/span><\/a><\/p> <p><strong>Water:<\/strong><br \/> The 100 billion neurons in our brain contain mostly water (70-80%), as does the cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds them (99% water).\u00a0Hence the importance of keeping well-hydrated, though it is also essential to combine them with carbohydrates (dried fruits, yoghurt, etc.), says Luc Bodin, as a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/on-my-plate\/super-food-water-a-must-have-health-5067.html\">significant amount of water <\/a>absorption happens whilst diluting the blood sugars in order to prevent hypoglycaemia.<\/p> <p><strong>Rest ... and dreams:<\/strong><br \/> A recent study in Israel found that a nap consisting of dream activity allows for better memory.\u00a0Though not yet fully understanding the complex mechanisms involved, neuroscientists nevertheless now believe that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/natural-healing\/10-natural-recipes-better-sleep-19984.html\">REM sleep<\/a> \u2013 during which we dream the most \u2013 may be an important tool in the consolidation of memories.<\/p> <p><strong>Choline:<br \/> <\/strong>Egg yolk is the food richest in choline, which is essential for proper maintenance of cell membranes.\u00a0It also allows the production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that the body does not manufacture itself, which is involved in the process of memorisation.<\/p> <p><strong>Zinc:<\/strong><br \/> This trace mineral, highly present in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/decoding\/food-reveals-character-20366.html\">seafood<\/a>, activates nerve impulses and promotes a good memory.\u00a0Shrimp are especially packed with zinc. In addition, they also contain omega-3 (especially cold water varieties).<\/p> <p><strong>Anti-rust:<\/strong><br \/> Physical training oxygenates the brain and maintains intellectual exercise.<\/p> <p><strong>Omega 3 and calcium:<br \/> <\/strong>Omega 3 contains essential fatty acids, including DHA, which are very important for the preservation of the membranes of neurons.\u00a0Sardine is very well equipped with it (as are mackerel and herring).\u00a0Even more with canned sardines \u2013 eat all of it, bones included, as it is an excellent source of calcium, which is involved in long-term memory.<\/p> <p><strong>Protein and iron<\/strong><br \/> \u201cIron intake has no effect on the memory unless we are lacking in it,\u201d says Luc Bodin, noting also that the iron from animal products is more easily absorbed.\u00a0He advises not to pair it with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/on-my-plate\/10-ultra-energizing-foods-18957.html\">vitamin C <\/a>that would make oxidative.\u00a0Rich in iron,\u00a0red meat\u00a0also contains proteins involved in all the chemical reactions of the brain.<\/p>  <p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p> <p style=\"color: #333333\"> ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What should we put on our plates and what behaviour should we adopt, in order to strengthen our memory?
