The first capital of the month long of\u00a0fashion weeks<\/a>\u00a0came to a close last week. While fashion go-ers battled with the harsh winter and snowstorms and still managed to look camera worthy, we were glad to be on this side of the world for once.<\/p>

Fashion week<\/a> was not without its drama though, from a fabulous streaker at the Prabal Gurung<\/strong> show to the inconvenient Brooklyn location where Alexander Wang<\/strong> held his show, this year\u2019s showdown was quite the ride.<\/p>

If the huge lineup of shows has got you a little perplexed and lost in the chaos, then that is exactly what we\u2019re here for. Here are just some of the highlights we adored that made our hearts go into a flurry \u2013 all in an easy digest!<\/p>


Oversized Coats<\/strong><\/p>

The bigger the better and perhaps this is to prepare for another season of subzero temperatures. Alexander Wang<\/strong> presented coats<\/a> with huge utilitarian pockets to stuff all winter essentials within proximity \u2013 gloves, earmuffs, phone, lip balm.<\/p>

Similarly, Derek Lam<\/strong> and Helmut Lang<\/strong> gave us slouchy and larger than life approximations of the winter necessity.<\/p>

Turtlenecks<\/strong><\/p>

No doubt, the 90s<\/a> are creeping back into our lives \u2013 we had the crop tops \u2013 now the turtlenecks are making a comeback. Whether oversized and chunky (The Row<\/strong>) or vibrant and cozy (Proenza Schouler<\/strong>), turtlenecks were spotted all over the runways this season.<\/p>

Be quick to adopt this trend into your wardrobes because from the likes of Victoria Beckham<\/strong> and Peter Som<\/strong>, the rolled necks are bound to blow up once it hits Fall. Also, this way we can say goodbye to double chin woes, at least for a season.<\/p>

Quirky<\/strong><\/p>

Fans of the Star Wars trilogy will be glad to see that the fashion industry has embraced it by way of Rodarte<\/strong>\u2019s 5 finale dresses. The charmeuse gowns, painted with C-3PO and Luke Skywalker were an apt nostalgic indication of the designer\u2019s childhood.<\/p>

Thom Browne<\/strong> continued to deliver his sartorial wackiness this season. Throughout the setup and first few looks, it was evident that the collection carried a somewhat religious vibe. The theatrics, makeup<\/a> and hair definitely drove the point home and left us leaning forward with goosebumps!<\/p>

Not so sure if anyone would sport these looks on the streets but it sure makes for a good Halloween attire?<\/p>

Hollywood Glamour<\/strong><\/p>

Some designers went further back than the 90s for inspiration, specifically to the glamourous period between the 20s and 50s.<\/p>

Christian Siriano <\/strong>gave a complete ode to the hat-wearing decade with full skirts and cocktail dresses in dark hues of black, emerald and bits of white.\u00a0 Zac Posen<\/strong> delivered a clean and no frills attached collection of streamlined silhouettes with nipped in waists. Without any added embellishments, the eye remained focused on the form and fit of the varied dresses and they most definitely were reminiscent of Rita Hayworth<\/strong>\u2019s elegance.<\/p>

Oscar de la Renta\u2019s<\/strong> range of fringed and beaded column dresses added the 20s glamour to his slightly experimental collection of noir and menswear<\/a> inspired pieces this season. Which we equally loved as well!<\/p>

Menswear Re-interpreted<\/strong><\/p>

The gender blend in fashion is not going anywhere and that only means more is being done to reintroduce menswear suits for the ladies.<\/p>

Jason Wu <\/strong>presented less structured suits and paired his with loose flared trouser pants. As for his debut collection for Hugo Boss<\/strong>, the menswear looks were more form fitting but paired with oversized jackets.<\/p>

Known for drama and amping up the audience, Kenneth Cole <\/strong>had his woman walk down in a classic pin striped suit and at other times a relaxed drawstring pants with a leather lapelled jacket. These looks were meant to take the boys down!<\/p>
