When it comes to the topic of \u2018Love\u2019, nothing can tickle our imagination and sweep us off our feet more than romantic movies.<\/p>

Film is entertaining but it also has that magical ability to make us time travel, fall in and out of love, laugh and cry and experience things we would either identify with or have no chance of experiencing otherwise - just by sitting in front of the screen.<\/p>

So when Valentine\u2019s Day<\/a> is just around the corner, it\u2019s no surprise that many singles<\/a> as well as couples choose to stay tucked in to watch a movie or two.<\/p>

But picking the wrong movie can be a big disappointment. A too-cheesy rom-com, or the pointless weepy melodrama can do more harm and good.<\/p>

Whether you\u2019re single and want a cheer-me-up fix with your friends, hopelessly in love, or a couple looking for some romantic time together - We have picked a movie for everyone.<\/p>

So get that bucket of popcorn (or perhaps more appropriately a glass of wine) ready, sit down and enjoy as these memorable love stories play in front of you.<\/p>

\"8597_2<\/span><\/a>You\u2019re single and looking for something to re-ignite your believe that \u2018true love is waiting\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0then the\u00a0Bridget Jones\u2019s Diary<\/a>\u00a0with Renee Zellweger is a fail-proof option! Better still, watching the sequel\u00a0Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason<\/a>\u00a0right after this one makes for a perfect chick flick marathon.<\/p>

The 'allowed to dream' \u201890s rom com\u00a0Pretty Woman<\/a>\u00a0with Julia Roberts comes next. But our all-time favourite is the classic\u00a0Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0with the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn in her most memorable role. We say invite all your single friends around and have an LBD and pearls themed party and pop open a bottle of champagne! Who needs a date when you can dress up and have fun with the girls?<\/p>

\"eternal_sunshine_of_the_spotless_mind_ver4\"<\/span><\/a>Recently single after a painful breakup<\/strong>\u00a0then don\u2019t be afraid to tackle one of the best movies on the topic \u2013 no not The Breakup \u2013 but the ingenious\u00a0Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind<\/a>\u00a0with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. It will be a little painful to watch but nothing like a good movie as an excuse to weep your heart out. But if you don\u2019t mind stepping out, head to your nearest cinema and watch\u00a0Her<\/a>\u00a0starring Joaquin Phoenix (hence eye candy guaranteed) who was nominated for a Golden Globe for this role. It is an elegant and original movie which captures intense emotions in an unusal yet beautiful manner.<\/p>

\"in_the_mood_for_love_2000\"<\/span><\/a>Hopelessly in love with someone whom you cannot be with<\/strong>\u00a0then go for the tear jerkers all the way \u2013 it\u2019s only healthy! Movies like the Wong Kar Wai\u2019s visually stunning\u00a0In the Mood for Love<\/a>\u00a0(starring Tony Leung Chui Wai and a stunning Maggie Chung), its sequel\u00a02046<\/a>, and Martin Scorsese\u2019s only romantic title\u00a0The Age of Innocence<\/a>\u00a0(set in the 19th<\/sup>\u00a0century with Daniel Day-Lewis and Michelle Pfeiffer) are some of our top picks. All three films talk about a would-have-been relationship with potential but where reality and conventions stand in the way of these star-crossed lovers.<\/p>

However the one unmatched masterpiece about the topic is Clint Eastwood\u2019s brilliant rendition of\u00a0The Bridges of Madison County<\/a>\u00a0where a younger and stunning Meryl Streep plays one of her best Oscar-nominated roles ever as a rural housewife who falls for a travelling photographer passing by her town.\u00a0<\/a>The Way We Were<\/a>\u00a0with Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford is a less weepy one for the more faint-hearted.<\/p>

\"600full-the-notebook-poster\"<\/span><\/a>A couple looking to remind yourselves how lucky you are to be together<\/strong>\u00a0then seeing less fortunate and doomed love stories might just do the trick and eve bring you closer.\u00a0The Notebook<\/a>\u00a0is a favourite among ladies (naturally as Ryan Gosling stars in it!),\u00a0The Revolutionary Road<\/a>\u00a0(with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet) is another great film about the realities of being in an intense yet unfulfilling relationship. Ang Lee\u2019s\u00a0Brokeback Mountain<\/a>\u00a0(with Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger) and Wong Kar-Wai\u2019s\u00a0Happy Together<\/a>\u00a0(with Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung Chui Wai) are also a great watch.<\/p>

\"600full-roman-holiday-poster\"<\/span><\/a>Single and vowed to laugh your way through Valentine\u2019s Day<\/strong>\u00a0then nothing like a great rom-com and those don\u2019t come very often \u2013 at least our inner movie buff thinks so.<\/p>

Safe bets are\u00a0Notting Hill<\/a>,\u00a0There\u2019s Something about Mary<\/a>,\u00a0Roman Holiday<\/a>,\u00a0Shakespeare in Love<\/a>, Practical Magic<\/a>, the French classic\u00a0Amelie<\/a>\u00a0and of course the appropriately-titled\u00a0Down with Love<\/a>.<\/p>

Time to head to the store and grab a couple of those DVDs!<\/p>
