The survey, commissioned by American grooming company Harry\u2019s, sought to shed light on what the modern man valued most.<\/p> <p>The study surveyed 2000 British men who had to rank what they valued the most (i.e. work, romance, personal growth) on a scale of 0 to 5. The results? Surprising to say the least.\u00a0<\/p> <h2> <span><strong>#1 Married Men are the Happiest of Men<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2> <p>It turns out that men who were <strong>married or in civil partnerships<\/strong> were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/health\/on-my-plate\/healthy-eating\/nutrients-to-boost-happiness-217475.html\">the <strong>happiest<\/strong><\/a>, scoring the highest among all the different relationship statuses (3.6), while <strong>single men were the least happy<\/strong>, ranking the lowest in the study (3.2). Interestingly, even among men who were attached, <strong>those married scored higher than those in long-term relationships<\/strong>.<\/p> <h2> <span><strong>#2 Men Do Want Marriage<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2> <p>If you thought men enter relationships not thinking about the potential for marriage, you thought wrong. When entering a new relationship, men do think about marriage and seek it.<\/p> <h2> <span><strong>#3 They Crave Romance - Even More Than Their Careers<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2> <p>The survey highlighted that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/coaching-lifelove\/relationship-advice\/simple-ways-keep-romance-alive-relationship-advice-207552.html\">romance<\/a> is the most essential part of their well-being<\/strong> - more so than their career and personal growth, in fact.\u00a090% of men categorised romance as either \u201cvery important\u201d or \u201cimportant\u201d, while only 78% of them ranked work in the same measure. In fact, romance is also significantly\u00a0 more important than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/career-advice\/tips-for-success\/10-career-milestones-reach-30s-283539.html#item=1\">personal growth <\/a>(54%).<\/p> <h2> <span><strong>#4 They're Okay with Being Emotionally Vulnerable<\/strong><\/span> <\/h2> <p>Despite the alarmingly high suicide rates among men, there is a slow but<strong> gradual rise in their openness to discuss emotional and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mariefranceasia.com\/lifelove\/expert-advice\/daniel-fung-bipolar-disorder-interview-238390.html\"> mental issues<\/a><\/strong>. According to the survey, British men value mental health more than physical health, and are willing to discuss the issues. <\/p>  <p>Dr. John Barry of UCL\u2019s Department of Psychology, who spearheaded the research says the survey will \u201cprovide important insights into what men need to live their lives in a positive way\u201d and \u201chow they should be represented\u201d. This growing attention onto male-specific issues is in light of astonishingly high suicide rates among men and current discourse on defining masculinity in this day.<\/p>  <p>So ladies, the next time you\u2019re quick to dismiss your partner as a romance-averse, emotionally stoic bloke, you might want to rethink that.
