21st century couples are an interesting lot: we've seen couples tie the knot in Target stores, using avocados<\/a> to propose - the list of viral wedding trends are endless.<\/p>

However, the latest engagement ring trend that's catching fire on the Internet? Engagement finger piercings.<\/strong><\/p>

Called a dermal piercing, instead of proposing with a traditional engagement ring<\/a>, couples are now celebrating this lifelong commitment by permanently embedding a diamond to their left ring finger. How it works: the left ring finger is pierced, before being affixed with a diamond.<\/p>

Now, as bizarre as this trend is, it has its perks. Firstly, it's the perfect solution for the brides- and grooms-to-be<\/a> prone to leaving their engagement rings lying around.<\/p>
