This year\u2019s MTV Awards<\/a>, hosted in Santa Monica, California featured the cast of hit shows Riverdale<\/em><\/a>, 13 Reasons Why<\/em>, and Stranger Things<\/em>, as well as red-carpet veterans such as Kim Kardashian, Kristen Bell, and Olivia Munn.<\/p>

The MTV Awards, known for its fun (and rather lax) \u201crules\u201d regarding red carpet looks, is always an opportunity for celebrities to bring out their less refined, less couture-defined side. It is also a great place to get your summer makeup inspo, with so many celebrities donning beachy waves<\/a>, slicked-back hair, and subtle pops of color on their eyes<\/a>!<\/p>

This year, we saw looks that veered on drastic opposite ends of the makeup spectrum. On one hand, we had the big, the bold, and the bright - as seen from Yara Shahidi\u2019s shimmery blue cut crease, Katherine Langford\u2019s navy, razor-sharp cat eye<\/a>, and Vanessa Morgan\u2019s dark red shadow. Other celebrities however opted for more muted, every day looks.\u00a0<\/a>Alisha Boe chose to go with a \u201cbarely-there\u201d eye look with a nude pink lip, while Amandla Stenberg went for a subtle burgundy shadow and lips look.<\/p>
