#9: When it doubt, pick light shades

    #10: The footwear
Don't forget: you can also flaunt a snazzy pair of shimmering gold shoes. Heels may be a little overkill when you're going for simplicity, so perhaps try some sandals or flats.

Gold isn’t just related to jewellery in the world of fashion - you can definitely give the tricky colour a spin in proper wardrobe pieces for an added glamorous effect. But, of course, some might be a little unconvinced - after all, one might fear looking like they’d been draped in a layer of gold leaf. While it is true that gold fabric can be distracting and, under unfortunate situations, a little tacky if not styled right, there are subtler ways to wear the colour for a look that is chic and trendy.

How to wear the colour gold

Pair with austere hues - When combined with colours like olive green or khaki, gold shades can stand out beautifully. Earthy tones will work a treat with shimmering gold pieces. Try a gold top with a pair of dark green trousers and some black ankle boots for the ultimate fall look, if you are feeling like dressing cosy.

Gold prints for subtlety - Instead of donning an all-gold piece (that might be a tad too blinding for some), find pieces in a neutral colour that feature simple gold prints or patterns. A black dress studded with spots of gold sequins or a blue skirt with thin gold stripes can look just as striking as something in a solid gold shade.

Feminine twists - Instead of being loud with gold-everything, try single pieces such as a gold maxi skirt paired with a white blouse and black belt, or a gold coat to match a basic ensemble. If you’re going for darker shades of gold, try to find a way to soften the look with feminine elements like dainty jewellery or a pair of gorgeous heels.

Accessorise with gold - Leave your outfit plain and simple, in monochrome colours such as white, black, or grey, and adorn yourself with a few accessories in gold, like a gold choker or a shimmering scarf. Even metallic gold shoes can amp up a simple outfit and draw attention subtly.
