Seeing Red: Our best and worst looks from the 2014 Emmy Awards red carpet

11 partages
Rana Wehbe https://www.mariefranceasia.com/hk/author/rana 26 Aug 2014 mis à jour le 4 May 2019 à 08:02

It was red all the way at this year's Emmy's... check out our favourite - and not so favourite - looks from the TV's biggest night.

11 partages
BEST DRESSED: Camila Alves in Zuhair Murad
  • 1/10
BEST DRESSED: Camila Alves in Zuhair Murad
Mrs Matthew Mcconaughey never fails to impress us when it comes to her fashion choices on the red carpet - and this time is no different. This gorgeous Zuhair Murad dress might have looked OTT on someone like JLo or Sophia Vergara, but the brunette beauty makes it look elegant and sexy at the same time. We love!
  • 2/10
BEST DRESSED: Sarah Hyland in Custom Christian Siriano
The young actress's choice on the MTV awards red carpet yesterday was not our favourite to say the least. But thankfully the starlet has redeemed herself tonight with this age-appropriate yet glamorous look, custom-made for her by the quirky Christian Siriano.
  • 3/10
BEST DRESSED: January Jones in Prabal Gurung
We absolutely love this look from the Mad Men actress whose perfect choice of shoes and blunt fringe add an unexpected twist to an otherwise traditional look. Perfection!
  • 4/10
BEST DRESSED: Christina Hendricks in Marchesa
The other - albeit curvier - Mad Men actress also went for red this year. We love how this Marchesa dress highlights her curves and how the colour complements her complexion and signature fiery hair.
  • 5/10
BEST DRESSED: Claire Danes in Givenchy
Another scarlet lady on the red carpet whose 'easy' style is always successful on the red carpet, Claire Danes keeps it simple yet interesting with this to-die-for Givenchy number. A classic beauty like her needs nothing else to shine!
  • 6/10
BEST DRESSED: Sofia Vergara in Roberto Cavalli
When we talk Emmys red carpet, Sophia Vergara is always on the top of our list of the ones to watch. The sexy Colombian never fails to impress by showing off her pefect curves in a figure-hugging frock like this white Cavalli number. Yes, it's what you expect from her - but we still love it!
  • 7/10
BEST DRESSED: Julia Robert in Elie Saab Couture
Shaking things up this year - perhaps unusually - is actress Julia Roberts who opted for a short embroidered frock instead of a full length dress. We love the fresh look which makes the actress look at least a decade younger, yet still as elegant as always.
  • 8/10
WORST DRESSED: Kelly Osbourne in Honor
For someone who sits and judges people's sartorial choices on a weekly basis, the Fashion Police co-host should have known better! We just don't get this unflattering look or her haircut for that matter...
  • 9/10
WORST DRESSED: Lena Dunham in Giambattista Valli
Next up is Lena Dunham's meringue-inspired look (or was it marshmallow?) Why, oh why?
  • 10/10
WORST DRESSED: Sarah Paulson in Armani Prive
This Armani Prive finale dress was presented as a wedding gown complete with a matching veil at the Fall14 show. We think it should have stayed there.

Red has always been a favourite colour choice for the stars when they want to make an impact on the red carpet. From Nicole Kidman to Blake Lively and most recently Lupita Nyong'o's iconic red frocks - these starlets have created some of the most memorable looks donning the hot shade for their big moments.

This year, at the Emmy Awards, it is no different. In fact, if anything, it seems everyone had the same idea and the result was an overwhelmingly red red carpet.  But while some have managed to pull it off and hence landed a spot in our best dressed, others have failed to impress us.

We pick our best and worst looks of TV's biggest night for 2014. Do you agree with our choices?
