Our favourite hair looks at Jakarta Fashion Week SS14

From updos to fringes and ponytails - we pick our favourite L'Oreal Professionnel hairstyles which took the runway at Jakarta Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014.

Fringes Everywhere

'Shringe' time at Billy Tjong & long fringe for Oscar Lawalata:

We saw a lot of fringes during Jakarta Fashion Week but two specific styles caught our eye. Inspired by traditional Indonesian textiles, both styles were transformed with a modern twist to complement the designers' work. Decorated with black beads, Oscar Lawalata's fringed models added a dramatic element with the rest of the hair tied up in a bun - while the short fringes at Billy Tjong looked hip and cool with 'bedhead' effect.

Drama For Tex Saverio and Priyo Oktaviano

The team of L’Oreal had a different approach to the very talented Tex Saverio’s designs. As his collection “Exoskeleton” was full of drama, the hairstyle was equally striking with gothic 3D accessories and black clay swept the models' crown.

Priyo Oktaviano's hairstyle was elegant ad regal with an ethnic feel to it. Although theatrical, the look can be simplified for those of us looking to add more edge to our evening looks.

Different kinds of Ponytails

Hans Ubbink's fishtail braids and Identite's low ponytail:

Ponytails are always fun and easy to do and from these two designers, we can see how different the outcome could be. While Identite showed a stunning take on ponytail, tied up in a silver accessory, Hans Ubbink took the fishtail braids to complete his Indonesian -inspired collection. Sophisticated yet laid back - we can't wait to copy this look!

The traditional look - revamped

Obin and Carmanita:

Traditional hairstyles were explored with a unique flair at Jakarta Fashion Week, mainly at Obin and Carmanita shows. Both designers are known for exploring traditional Indonesian textiles and the hair looks were an extension of that theme. Obin’s models were spotted wearing the traditional Indonesian updo (konde) with jasmines on one side, finished with a red ribbon.

On the other hand, Carmanita’s models had their hair tied back in simple and sleek manner with colourful accessories and beads decorating the front.

Modern, Sleek & Edgy

Seen at Auguste Soesastro and Patrik Owen's shows:

With designs which shout modern, original and edgy, the hairstyles we saw at Auguste Soesastro and Patrik Owen were modern and simplistic. ozing sophistication, these looks were meant to stay in the background and let the clothes shine as should be. We could not have done it differently!
