When it comes to Instagrammable beaches, we can’t forget about the iconic black sand beaches, and Amed does not disappoint. Black beaches occur because of the amount of volcanic minerals in the sea, and Amed’s shore is not short of any. When walking down the beach, hand in hand with your loved one, the beach here will make it feel like you’re in the middle of a dystopian film.

The Pink Beach
Okay, okay. This isn’t technically false advertisement but don’t go there expecting a beach filled with pink sand. While the sand does look pink, it’s concentrated near the shoreline. So, no, you might not have your favourite shade of pink to lie on. Nonetheless, the clear sea and the slight pink makes it a slight to behold. Plus, there’s a reason Rose Quartz and Serenity made it as Pantone’s 2016 Colour of the Year.

Parangtritis Beach
Bali isn’t the only place with beautiful beaches. Introducing Parangtritis Beach in Yogyakarta, a popular beach that’s filled with little-known secrets by the locals. Not only are you entering a sacred place, as this lies in the domain of the Queen of the Southern Ocean who isn’t fond of visitors, there are hot springs a walk away, and also hidden temple ruins on the east side of the beach.

Nembrala Beach
Thrill-seekers, rejoice. At Nembrala, you can experience fun activities like snorkelling and trekking, or alternatively head off into the white sand for a magnificent relaxing time. Fishing is also a popular pastime, seeing as the sea holds a wide variety of marine life such as beautiful coral life. Look closely and you might get to see the occasional octopus to remind you of how close you truly are to nature.

Balangan Beach
In front of low, rocky cliffs lies Balangan Beach. Not only is it one of the best places to get your surfing fix with its magnificent waves, the golden sand makes it a wonderful place for a relaxing vacation as well. Admittedly, it’s popular among surfers, but that only adds credibility to how spectacular the beach truly is. There is a reef nearby that you can explore, or simply rest up in one of the many beach beds around.

Yeh Leh
There’s this magical feeling about Yeh Leh beach that makes it extremely beautiful. Known as Boulder Beach because of its rock formations, the way the shore washes up and brings a wisp of morning mist makes it an amazingly beautiful place. Put together, with the rising sun, it looks as good as default desktop wallpapers, in a breathtaking way.

Geger Beach
For a calming and relaxing time, Geger Beach is nearly unbeatable. With its quiet and peaceful beaches that make you want to recline and bask in the sun forever, it is no wonder this is a popular spot for most people. Head off to snorkel in your free time for a clear view of the corals and then continue enjoying the view. Admittedly, this place may be filled with tourists, so it’s best to visit during off-peak months!

Pasir Putih Beach
If weird black beaches aren’t your thing, try Pasir Putih Beach for its sparkling white beaches. The brightness of the sand will contrast heavily with the beautiful sea, followed by the nice sky behind it. The pristine beaches makes for a good background for your shots, and the sea can only aid it further. Doesn’t that already sound perfect for an Instagram op?
