10 Casual Friday looks to adopt before the week is out

Angela Goh https://www.mariefranceasia.com/hk/author/angela 01 Apr 2016 mis à jour le 3 May 2019 à 11:56

There are many ways to achieve the right balance between casual and work-ready.

Simple and clean
  • 1/10
    Simple and clean
Black skinnies and a long-sleeved top will not fail you. With the right accessories, this plain and simple combination will instantly make you feel like the most trendy chick in the room.
  • 2/10
    Dots and stripes
Patterned pieces will instantly add vibrance to your outfit and draw the eye of everyone around you. Layer print tops with a simple cardigan or light jacket to complete the look.
  • 3/10
    Layer on the denim
A sassy A-line skirt in a shade other than black can take you miles away from the dark and drab 9 to 5 office vibe. Embrace a striped t-shirt and layer on a denim jacket for a casual yet fashionable look.
  • 4/10
    Funky stripes and cheeky charms
Darker hues don’t necessarily have to scream formal and professional all the time. You can give off a casual enough aura by adding playful stripes and fun accessories to the outfit.
  • 5/10
    Classic combination
The white top and denim jeans combo is a classic casual Friday look. Add a dash of colour to the simple outfit with a pair of bright pumps. Keep accessories to a minimum if you can help it.
  • 6/10
    Your feet matter too
Make casual Friday really count by throwing on a pair of sneakers before you walk out the door in the morning. They will give you comfort all day long and won’t look too out of place when you pair them with some long, fitted trousers of a similar shade.
  • 7/10
    Bag lady with the boots
Something less conventional than a shoulder bag or handbag might be just the thing you need to carry to work this Friday. Try a convenient backpack – they look good with the right ensemble. Pair with a comfortable high-waisted skirt and some knee-high boots.
  • 8/10
    Sweater weather
When it’s casual Friday, you might want to let your hair down, literally. Loose curls cascading down a simple pullover sweater makes for an uncomplicated yet style-conscious look. Plus you get to stay warm in the office too.
  • 9/10
    Skirts and sneakers
We’ve established that comfy sneakers are a must, and they do look stylish with a long skirt. This pleated dusty pink piece pairs well with light coloured sneakers to create an unmistakably feminine look.
  • 10/10
    Scarf it up
Adopting this scarf-sweater vintage look can make it seem like you threw everything on in a hurry in the most style-conscious way possible. Not exactly a bad thing, in our opinion.

Casual Fridays can be one of the trickiest outfit days to plan for, especially in hot and humid Singapore. Of course, your workplace environment plays a key factor in the type of clothing you are allowed to get away with. If you are lucky enough, you might be able to pull off a pair of sneakers and cropped trousers. Unfortunately, some of you might work in an office with a stricter dress code, banning shorter skirts or denim.

For those of you who are allowed a bit of breathing space and freedom, we invite you to keep things simple and comfortable, yet stylish and fresh. Don’t get carried away by over exaggerated makeup or severe hairstyles that take away precious time from your morning sleep on Fridays - opt for quick and subtle.

We invite you to ditch the formal blazer and flick through the gallery above for 10 casual outfit ideas that you may want to embrace over the next few Fridays. They will definitely put you in the mood for the weekend that follows.
