A little peek at what is in store for Singaporean and international film fanatics in the upcoming weeks during the 26th edition of SGIFF.

Mee Pok Man (1995)

If you're a film buff, you're in luck because the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2015 is coming up right around the corner. Set to happen from 26th Nov - 6th Dec, it will be all about celebrating the increasingly vibrant local and international film scene.

This year, they will be bringing back not one, but two classic local indie films, Mee Pok Man by Eric Khoo, and Bugis Street Redux by Yonfan, which premiered all the way back in the 1990s. As these local films were so well-loved and highly-acclaimed, they'll be shown at this year's festival to inspire and motivate a new generation of homegrown filmmakers and directors.

Many would not consider Singapore's local art scene as one that's booming, unlike some other countries who have many talented and recognized local artists. But SGIFF is a stepping stone to growing the public's interest in films that aren't shown in cinemas all across the world and cost billions of dollars to make.

It lets you realize that indie films too, have a quintessential charm about them, because they tell small, relatable stories in settings that take us back to familiar places. However, not much is known about the other films that will be making their debuts at this year's festival, but you can rest assured that they will be of top notch quality.

A glimmering affair will be expected on the first night of SGIFF 2015, as a myriad of famous indie filmmakers, directors, actors, film critics and more flock to Singapore for this annual celebration of their beloved and noble art form: film.
