New York Fashion Week SS15: What to look forward to?

From Miley Cyrus and Jeremy Scott's collaboration to Gareth Pugh's foray into NYC, it's safe to say that fashion month will be off to a good start with NYFW!

Anthony Vaccarello for Versus Versace
Following the footsteps of Christopher Kane and Jonathan Anderson, Belgian designer, Anthony Vaccarello is the next designer to collaborate with Donatella Versace's bold and daring diffusion line, Versus.

While lips have been kept rather tight with regards to the actual collection, we're hearing that he and Donatella have dished about their admiration towards Richard Avedon's classic 90s Versace campaigns. So here's hoping there's some emblematic theme to the upcoming collection.

Chris Gelinas
The Canadian-born, Parson-educated, Chris Gelinas made it to one of the 11 finalists at this year's inaugural LVMH prize - from a pool of 1,221 entries at that. Spring 2015 will be Gelinas's third showing at NYFW and already we're ardent fans of his design aesthetic. By playing with architectural forms, billowy proportions and unexpected colour palettes, it's obvious that everyone should be eagerly waiting for Gelina's collection this season.

Kempner
Launched earlier this year by Meggie and Chris Kempner, the label is brilliantly inspired by their stylish late grandmother, Nan Kempner.

The inspiration led to a collection that cleverly marries high-end luxe with a casual or sportwear influence which essentially appeals to a wider target group.
Now as their first showing in NYFW looms closer, we're certain that the brand will receive a whole lot of good vibes.

Gareth Pugh at NYFW
The much celebrated London-based designer who typically shows at Paris is now hopping across the pond to NYC for the first time. He promises an 'immersive live performance' to open the week, and while we're not entirely sure what that means, we're guessing dancers or acrobats will be part of the deal.

Stella Nolasco
While Nolasco has already made quite the mark for herself in her native, Puerto Rico, with her sensual yet charmingly elegant designs, this is her first time into NYFW.

Judging by her past collections, we are yearning to see what emotions her creations will exude amongst the fashion audience - we're hoping lots of jaws to be dropped.

Michael Herz at Diane Von Furstenburg
As the newly appointed artistic director for Diane Von Furstenburg, Michael Herz (formely co-creative director of Bally) will be debuting his first runway collection this NYFW.

It'd be interesting to see with this collection, what else lies ahead for DVF.

Opening Ceremony
Opening Ceremony will be bringing a little bit of broadway pizazz to the tradtional runway this season with a 30-minute play.
The one-act play co-written by Jonah Hill and Oscar-winning director, Spike Jonze - whose films like Her inspired previous Opening Cermony collections - may make this quite an intriguing show to be at.

Broadway play in NYC and fashion - couldn't have asked for a better combination!

Jeremy Scott and Miley Cyrus
Fashion's favourite irreverent designer, Jeremy Scott is slated to collaborated with the equally provocative and daring soul, Miley Cyrus. No one knows yet what the collab entails but if Jeremy's fun and playful antics are anything to go by, you know it won't be a subtle show for sure.

The thrilling and relatively fast-paced fashion month is upon us again and this is where designers will be unleashing their Spring 2015 collections without any haste whatsoever - other than the endless wait in the tents of course.

Nonetheless, we are all ready with our notebooks to jot down the motley of trends, colours, prints, textures and innovative designs that will have us pining to fast forward time and meet summer all over again. These days when everything else moves at lightning speed, it tends to get awfully hard to actually wait for the collections to hit stores after 6 months, but alas we shall be patient.

So before New York Fashion Week officially kick-starts with the first show of the season, here are just some aspects or designers to look forward to - whether it's Anthony Vaccarello's debut for Versus or Gareth Pugh's foray into American soil or the LVMH Prize finalist, Chris Gelinas, a lot is definitely at stake at the massively fashion stuffed calendar in the Big Apple.

All we've got to do now is wait for our Instagram feeds to explode.
