Atkinsons: The Contemporary Collection

From having a smartly dressed life-sized brown bear as their mascot (the cherished pet of Mr. Atkinson himself) and a 200-year history of “perfume snobbery”, the British fragrance house has come a very long way from its 24 Old Bond Street roots. Refusing to fall behind newer, equally renowned fragrance brands, Atkinsons The Contemporary Collection reintroduces us to the traditional scents – Rose in Wonderland, Lavender on the Rocks and Posh on the Green – and puts a wholly unexpected-but-welcome, edgy twist on the familiar. Interesting fact: each of the perfumes in this line, are infused with geranium.
Rose in Wonderland
Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, this fragrance is unlike what the name would suggest, with its source originating not from the rose petals but unexpectedly from the thorns. The scent is stronger than the quintessential rose smell and hits you with an undeniably sensual headiness, without being overpowering. Infused with rose dew accord and blackcurrant buds, geranium, rose centifolia absolute, vetiver and cristal amber, this fragrance implores you to visit the less explored, sexier side of the deceptively innocent rose.
Lavender on the Rocks
This musky smelling perfume introduces an electrifying twist on the traditional lavender scent. The result of a pure double distillation of lavender, the sharp, spicy smell is reminiscent of a blend of fine spirits, as 'on the rocks' would suggest, and a drool-worthy man with his shirt unbuttoned. Although the smell is arguably more appropriate pour homme, the more adventurous self-assured woman tends to find this their perfume of choice too. Lavender on the Rocks’s key ingredients are Germanium & Basil – rose essence and lavender essence & absolute – Gaiac Wood & Oud accord.
Posh on The Green
Think a game of croquet in the garden, with a nice breeze blowing, after a sumptuous high tea, with men in golf berets and women sitting on lawn chairs under parasols. These are the images that come to mind as you take a whiff of the alfresco scent that is Posh on The Green. Inspired by freshly cut British lawns and garden parties, the earthy fragrance is as refreshing as it is impossibly classy. If it doesn’t hit you immediately, it is probably also the only time you’ve ever seen a green perfume. The perfume is infused with Coriander & Petit Grain, Galbanum & Geranium, Vetiver & Cedarwood.
