The Roaring Twenties makeup look

Try the ultra romantic and glamorous look with our expert's tips!

France - "Chopard" Party at the 60th Cannes Film FestivalRetro-chic at its best, the 20's make up look can be so elegant yet a little hard to perfectly pull off. After all, we just want a hint of glamour without ending up looking like a Dita Von Teese impersonator.

Trendy as it is this year as well - we ask makeup artist Jerome Sandevoir for some tips to achieve a more subtle, 2013 version of this glamorous look.

The Right Application:

“Choose one or two warm shades of eye-shadow that go well together. Use the darker shade on the eyelids and fade towards the arch of your eyebrows. Then apply the lighter shade on the inner corners of the eyes to add a luminous touch.”

The Right Combination:

“Brighten your complexion with a light tan powder. To modernize the look, we swapped the black monochrome shades of the 20's for lighter shades of brown, blue and green kohl and mascara – which also enhance the brightness of the eyes.

A creamy soft pink hue for the cheeks and lips finalize the look.

My tip: lipstick can be used on both.

For a bolder jazz nightclub look, play up the lips with a slightly eccentric red color which will turn heads on a night out.”

Jerome’s Recommendations:

“For a dazzling look, choose a blush that has reflective pearly particles-  which capture the light - and works well with layering and juxtaposition.

As a finishing touch, brush the eyebrows and eyelashes after applying mascara.

A high or slightly-wavy fringe swept to the side right above the eyebrows complete this look to perfection.”
