Singapore F1: Tell us what you wear, we tell you where to go!

Our guide to what’s happening at Singapore’s F1 weekend – based on what you’ll be wearing…

While the world switches on the screens to follow Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton parading in the Formula One circus, the Lion City fills up with celebrities and tourists who crave for exclusive entertainment and activities.

The days between September 20th and Mon 23rd will welcome celebrities, fashion icons and VIPs and will attract a crowd of international flair at venues all over the city.

We’ve already given you the lowdown on the best VIP venues during the Grand Prix season, but what about the rest of us? What about those who aren’t petrolheads, are not attending the swish VIP lounges but still tag along for fun and giggles?

Fret not. Marie France Asia has scoured Singapore to find a host of interesting activities that will keep you buzzing from venue to venue, from the afternoon until the early hours of the morning. We’ll guide you around the city-state and challenge your wardrobe to keep up with the variety of events.  We start with heavier, more covered outfits and proceed to remove layers, until we are only left with our swimmers on!

COLD:

Clubbing dresses, light faux leather jackets and high heels

If you’ve packed clothing for the cold weather and reached Singapore thinking that you could have saved some luggage space for an extra set of bikinis or souvenirs, do not fret! Clubs in Singapore have enough a/c to make you want to snuggle into your new outerwear proudly while dancing at the very latest beats in town.

The autumn jackets and coats will get a chance to be worn and flaunted over a mini skirt and high heels at one of the many clubs. Or — Think bright red one-buttoned tailored jacket, white undershirt, and pleated mini, a lot of leg and red pumps. Wink.

Steve Aoki returns to Zouk Club on Sat. Wear white to go with Zouk’s famous UV light.

Paris Hilton will be spinning in person at me.oue on Sun. Wear silver or gold reflecting evening dresses and vertigo pumps to honour the DJ.

HOT & COLD:

Low heels or flats and stylish hats

For those of us who are always scouting for new pieces to add to our home and wardrobe collection – or why not start stocking up for Christmas? – do not miss the pop up markets that will sprout overnight in time for the F1 weekend.

Dress comfy low heels or flats. Bring an accessory to cover from the sunlight, let this be your vintage sunglasses or a stylish hat, and perhaps bring along a cardigan or light coat to wear on and off while inside the malls.

ORCHARD – The whole stretch of Orchard Road will have pop-up shops selling F1 related merchandise and handing out freebies to F1 ticket holders. Several fast cars are out on display for you to take pictures next to a monster roadster.

TANGLIN ROAD – Go down to “Chillax Market” and treat yourself to some shopping while sipping on bubbly by the Champagne Bar. Get a style consultation and grab a local bargain from the many Boutique vendors. This market is taking place for the third consecutive year and can be found at Tanglin Shopping Center, on Tanglin Road, on the Fri and Sat.

TRIPLEONE SOMERSETHidden Finds Market (part of the Secret Garden lineup) is a pop up flea market promises to bring 120 local vendors in what will be a large scale indie shopping experience at TripleOne Somerset.

SUNDAY ARTISTS MARKET – Popular loft-cum-club The Vault is making a comeback with buy-able art and fashion displayed and sold within its premises. Exit at Chinatown and head for South Bridge Road on Sun.

TREATS OF THE TRADE – Online boutiques come united until November 19th to showcase their goods out of the net and into the real world. Catch a bargain at online prices at Treats of The Trade in the East Coast.

WARM:

Keep your races outfit on

If you find yourself lightly dressed, out of the races and ready to keep the party going, you can head to one of the many live performances that will vibe up the crowd at several venues.

F1 STAR PERFORMANCES – The entry to the F1 races includes access to live performances at Padang Stage. The artists performing on the Padang Stage need no introduction and will be selling out their seats in no time at all. The weekend will see R&B and pop queen Rihanna, The Killers, Korean BIGBANG band, Tom Jones and many others.

Justin Bieber will close the long weekend with his performance on Monday.

Sadly the 1 World Music Festival has been cancelled, so you’ll have to content yourself with gossiping about why the sudden late call off happened and fuming at missing out on Snoop, Far East Movement and many others who WON’T be in Singapore this weekend anymore.

HOT & WET:

Sleeveless top, all stars and mozzie spray

steve-hardwell

If you dare venturing into Fort Canning Park at night, arm yourself with mosquito repellent and very light clothing. Get ready to dance to the tunes of Dutch progressive and electro house DJ/producer Hardwell on Fri. Go Hardwell or Go Home? We say go Hardwell of course.

HOT HOT HOT!!!

Bikini and sunglasses?

tanjong-beach-club-beach party

A bikini or swimming costume is THE must wear item you should hide beneath any outfit you select this weekend. Any party might end with an impromptu swimming pool party.

And if you are really chasing the chance to dip in the pool at the sound of awesome tunes, head to Tanjong Beach Club from 2pm until late on Sat and join the “50’s Miami Beach Party”, hosted by a rich line up of SE Asian visiting DJs.
