Emma Roberts celebrates 40 years of the Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress

For the last 40 years, the wrap dress has become an iconic fashion item and is still as popular as ever. To celebrate, Diane Von Furstenberg launches "Journey of a Dress" campaign, particularly with actress Emma Roberts.

In July 1976, in her first Vogue cover,  Diane von Furstenberg said 'simplicity and sexiness, that’s what people want. At a price that’s not outrageous.'

Even back then, her mission had already been successful given that her signature wrap dress (which was introduced in 1972) has already been mass produced (20,000 per week) at the time of the interview.

Since 2006, the former princess has presided over the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America), which in addition to presenting an annual award for excellence and quality, works on the artistic and professional standards, and defines the code of ethical practices. And it doesn't look like she's going to stop, since her mandate was renewed until 2016.

As it celebrates its 40th anniversary, the wrap dress has never been more popular, as confirmed by the impressive retrospective "Journey of a Dress" which prior to settling down last spring in LA, had travelled to Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The Wilshire May Company Building, near the LACMA museum in Los Angeles, has received many visitors during the exhibition month up until its last day in April.

This proves the talent of the Belgian designer, who has adapted her wrap dress to the 21st century and kept it relevant. Through the "Journey of a Dress" campaign, each chosen celebrity (from Coco Rocha to popular blogger Song of Style) tells her DVF experience via the YouTube channel of the brand.

Thus, it is through a video that the young  Emma Roberts takes us to celebrate the iconic dress's anniversary in her own way. Find out more videos of other celebrities on their site.
